Sutton Lodge with Hot Tub

Peaceful and tranquil location. Comfortable, outstanding lodge.

We have been staying at Allerthorpe for a number of years and have stayed in Sutton lodge before, it is getting a little tired now and could do with a spruce up especially as the price has increased.

The lodge was nice however as a whole it is very overpriced. For the cost of the stay and how strongly the owner feels about the state the lodge must be kept, we was very disappointed by the facilities provided. No bin bags, cloths, toilet roll, kitchen roll, disinfectant spray, etc were left to clean we had to purchase these ourselves. We made sure to follow the very particular steps the owner left for us for example: stripping the beds and leaving bin bags by the bin, however I arrived home to a message saying I would be charged £100 for the bin bags and messy bedding ? When I contacted the owner to discuss this I have had no response and wouldn’t recommend staying here as this seems like a very unreasonable amount to take for bin bags, even tho they were left where they asked us to leave them. In my opinion simply having a nice lodge is not enough when charging so much, there should also be basic facilities provided. I would also like to add that the owner states they will be ‘withholding half of the deposit’ in actual fact they take the extra amount out of your account first and then refund the rest days later without any explanation or communication, leading me to believe for several days that they had taken an extra £100 out of my account and that was that.

Overall the place was great. The only feedback to help improve would be that the sofas were a little old and had large dips in the middle were people had been sat often so made it a bit uncomfortable when sleeping on the sofa bed and there was only one tea towel in the kitchen and one toilet role per bathroom, there could have done to be a few more

The lodge was very spacious and modern with a lovely view of a small lake with a fountain, it is a lovely place to come and relax with the added bonus of the hot tub, very expensive for 2 nights though.
