"Exceptional"

Lovely hosts, Jose and Maria warmly welcomed us to their lovely ecolodge. The rooms are big and equipped with a very powerful and extremely silent fan, so you can sleep comfortably. The lodge is not as fancy or luxurious as the beach side resorts but that is not a negative thing. It is local owned and run by the owners so the personal care is wonderful and at a price that is hard to beat.

Jose and Maria were incredibly friendly and we enjoyed their company despite the language barrier. The room itself was spacious, clean and modern.

Given the heat, we would have loved air conditioning although understand the limitations on the island.

"Beautiful, be prepared to ask for what you've paid for."

The garden is beautiful, and it's nice to sit ourside with a coconut drink when you arrive.The guide who took us to Laguna Encantada was cool. Some staff were very friendly and helpful. It's not too far from shops and the beach. You can get a mosquito net if you ask for it.

The room was a bit dirty when we arrived (sand in the bed, messy toilet) though our hostess did clean it when we asked. The toilet can only flush maybe once every hour or so, so if you're a couple you might need to share a flush, but I guess that's why it's an ecohotel (obviously the shower is not great). You do have to ask for the mosquito net a couple times. In general, it's a beautiful place to spend a night, maybe 2, but you have to be prepared to ask for things and not be bothered by a couple staff members seeming annoyed and exasperated (though still basically polite) at you for it.

"Good"

The garden is very beautiful. Loved the hammocks with the two parrots.

The staff seemed quite unmotivated and not very warm in general. Thus didn't like to much the vibes at the place. The room was also quite shabby and not as described.

"Lovely people!"

Maria and José are very friendly and hospitable. Maria's food is incredible and José took us on his boat to see the bioluminescent plankton. He also picked us up and dropped us off at the ferry. Very pleased to meet them and would stay again
