Maroelani Lodge- Greater Kruger Private Reserve

The food was great and the staff very very friendly and provided great service.

The hot water doesn’t work did not have one hot shower, the room didn’t have toilet paper, I was really looking forward to the hammock on the deck which was broken and left on a heap on the deck. The mattress is very cheap and uncomfortable the linen was stained and torn. The photos on the website and booking.com don’t accurately represent the place. It’s a nice enough place but I think it’s significantly over priced for what you get. The description of the room facilities mentioned a coffee machine, mini bar and dining area of which there were none.

Absolutely loved our stay! The facilities were lovely, even better than the pictures. Food was included and always delicious, and the staff were all amazing and so attentive. Francis was brilliant at communicating with us in advance and even offered us a room upgrade.

The suite didn’t have a wardrobe or anywhere to unpack clothes. That’s just being picky though as everything else was amazing.

Everything was amazing, our safari guide, Francis and the team. It was perfect, it felt so personalised and we felt incredibly well looking after. We had a couple of drives at neighbouring reserves and whilst they might have a few more animals on the drives; from the conversations we had with people staying at these resorts the hospitality we had was unmatched. The beauty of staying here is you have the option to do additional drives at Kruger or neighbouring reserves but this is the most incredible base and the drives are much more intimate and informative. Ghert (might have butchered the spelling) was nothing short of exceptional during and outside of the game drives. I’m fortunate with work to stay at some very nice locations across the globe but this experience tops the list.

There isn’t really anything negative I can say, the rooms were fantastic, hospitality was fantastic. They supplied our requests of food from the questions they asked pre-check in.

Frances was very hospitable and so friendly! She was always on hand and really wanted to make the most out of our trip. Gurt was a great game driver and an asset to Maroelani - he was so lovely and knowledgeable!

I think there been a changeover of chef as the food was hit and miss and not in keeping with the reviews on here…

Only the restaurant and the staff - Great food with traditional south african food

Game drives - it's a private and small area therefore there aren't many animals. Besides that, most of them are domestic animals, they feed them, some of them purchased... It actually looked like a farm and not kruger. Bedroom - There are 2 fans which didn't refresh at all, so the bedroom remain very hot for a couple of hours. Though Francis was very attentive and kind to this situation and give un an extra fan and a bottle of champagne. Cleanliness was not the best for the bedroom and common areas like the pool

We enjoyed being in the Bush Cabin, quite secluded from the rest of the lodge, with our own small pool and outside shower, and lots of space. The food was excellent. The main lodge was amazing with two pools and a hot tub. The staff were friendly and attentive.
