Diggersrest Lodge

When we got there we were greeted by a gentleman that was so drunk he could hardly stand on his feet. There was no power. No response from establishment and did not answer their phone.

1. Ruan, our host, was excellent with communication before our arrival, which made everything easy and stress-free. 2. The views over the Magoebaskloof are absolutely breathtaking – truly one of the highlights of our stay. 3. The gardens are immaculate and beautifully maintained, adding to the peaceful atmosphere.

Diggersrest is a truly beautiful lodge with breathtaking views, and with a few refinements it could easily become an exceptional stay. A clearly marked reception area would make arrivals more welcoming and smooth. Some aspects of the room felt a little “unfinished,” likely due to ongoing renovations, with minor details such as exposed extension cords, paint marks, and bathroom floor finishes etc. During the power outage on 27 September, the candles and updates via the housekeeper were appreciated, though a short message directly from the host would have provided extra reassurance.It is unfortunate that the host never responded to the Whatsapp message or took my call when at first I wanted to bring the outage under his attention. The following morning, there was unfortunately no water available, which did impact our experience.

Super schöne Anlage, sehr gut ausgestattete und gemütliche Cottages, sehr sauber und total nette Gastgeber und Personal. Die Anfahrt ist mit einem normalen Auto überhaupt kein Problem, wenn es zuvor nicht viel geregnet hat und man die Instruktionen des Gastgebers beachtet :-)

Anscheinend war neben unserem Cottage ein Teich mit Fröschen oder so etwas. Die waren nachts leider ziemlich laut.

The views over the valley were magic.

We booked a certain room and when we arrived it was totally not what we booked and the management did not even bother to contact us to say that the better room we booked were under construction and not available.. we manage to contact the owner and this was his replay : Me:Good day I am so disappointed in the booking change without any communication we will not be staying there it was not what we have paid for please communicate as to the refund of my payment made to you I want to resolve the matter with you as I don't want to make any further complaints to booking.com or leave a bad review on my experience with you He replied: Hi Trudi My sincere apologies for the lack of communication. I am unfortunately overseas attending a family matter and had instructed my assistant to contact you regarding the change due to maintenance that was not completed in time and to offer you a discount. We will of course refund you the full amount and this will be done via booking.com Up until today no refund and ignoring my messages I am so disappointed

It's quiet and scenic. The staff is friendly and the place is beautiful. We had lots of firewood for the chilly night, this was my second visit

Had a very comfortable stay here. Loved everything about this place. So peaceful and beautiful.
