Super dedicated and welcoming host. I loved the environment, to be in the middle of nature, surrounded by fields and tea plantains at the bottom of Ella Rock. Would recommend this place to all nature lover's.

Fantastic place to stay when visiting the Ella area! We really loved being outside of the main town, and was still very accessible after organising a scooter hire with the hosts for a very good rate. Also great place to start the sunrise Ella Rock hike, as the property is a stones throw from the trail. Loved falling asleep to the fast slowing river every night!

A little damp/humid in the rooms and a few bug friends. But neither were enough to be a problem and I think honestly it’s impossible not to be the case considering the location, just worth considering if that’s a problem for some.

The host was a superhero. He went out of his way to satisfy our needs and he was always there smiling making sure we are happy and comfortable. I work in service for years so I really appreciate genuinely good service when I find it. The host provided the best service in Sri Lanka so far, and we’ve been here for a month. It felt like home for us. I was. So sad to leave I felt I was connected with this place. The location is beautiful, ten minute drive from the city of Ella and right next to the Ella rock trail into the nature. Room clean and really cute! HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!

Staying at Ella Rock Grun Cottage was such a great experience! It's perfectly located right on the last part of the trail to Ella Rock, so you can reach the top in about 1.5 hours if you are slow like me :)) When we arrived, we were welcomed with coffee, a cup of black tea and fresh juice, which was a lovely touch. The room was super clean and had a small terrace with an amazing view of the tea plantations. It was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the scenery. The restaurant doesn't have a huge menu (about ten dishes) but every single one was delicious. They cook everything in the most hygienic way, with clean plates and a chef who wears gloves. Plus, the ingredients are fresh from the plantation right in front of the cottage. One of the coolest parts was the view of the Black Bridge. We could see and hear the train coming from Nine Arch Bridge every day, which added a really charming vibe to our stay. Overall, Ella Rock Grun Cottage is a fantastic place to stay if you're looking to explore Ella Rock and enjoy some great food and comfortable accommodations.

Wonderful Hotel in the middle of nature, right next to Ella rock The excellent service as well as the amazing food, clean and beautiful room and nice staffs.

It can be recommended that this place with very good hospitality and delicious food is a very clean and maintained place in a beautiful environment.

Great communication from the start. Our train was cancelled so we were arriving into Ella late. The staff messaged me to sort a pick up from town. They carried our bags to and from the tuk tuk on the short walk across country to the cottage. The room is private and has an amazing view over the river. We went swimming in the river to cool off. Breakfast and the view was perfect. Location is right at the start of the trail head and we borrowed a torch for a sunrise hike. It’s a small place and out of the way with great people. Ask about trips to the tea factory.
