The Whitegates Lodge

The room was cosy and clean with crisp white sheets. Fan and AC worked well. They also have a small garden with chairs and tables. I had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. It’s located on a quiet area but only a few steps away to a beautiful secluded beach (Pera Beach). The owners are really accommodating and friendly and are very flexible with check-in/check out times.

I had a very pleasant stay here. The room was clean and comfortable, which allowed me to really rest and relax during my stay. The owners are very kind and helpful and were always willing to assist whenever needed. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay.

Sehr sauber, nette Gastgeber, leckeres Frühstück & ruhig gelegen. Das Zimmer ist sehr komfortabel und hat genug Ablagefläche. Den Garten kann man mitnutzen. Wild Beach ist 50meter, nach Midigama läuft man 5-10 min. Ein Scooter lohnt sich.

Great place to stay! The guesthouse is clean, cozy, and well maintained. The owners are very welcoming and make sure guests feel comfortable. I had a really pleasant stay and would definitely recommend it :)

La stanza è pulitissima, la casa è in una posizione un po' riparata dalla strada quindi molto silenziosa e gli host sono super gentili e disponibili. Il letto è gigante, il bagno spazioso, nella sala comune c'è una cucina piccola se ci si vuole cucinare qualcosa. Attraversando la strada si raggiunge una spiaggia carina, dove ci si può rilassare e passare qualche ora piacevole. Colazione buona, preparata dagli host, non mi sembra ci fosse possibilità di scelta.

La casa è posizionata tra due paesi, quindi per spostarsi e raggiungerli bisogna sempre prendere un mezzo di trasporto (tuk tuk, bus, taxi); è difficile camminare per raggiungere qualsiasi cosa (ristoranti per cena, altre spiagge) perchè come ovunque bisogna camminare in mezzo alla strada.

Super verzorgd en je hebt een leuk tuintje. De hosts zijn super aardig en zorgen ervoor dat je het beste verblijf hebt.

Als je een tijdje in Sri Lanka blijft en je wil af en toe zelf koken ipv uit te eten, heb je een mooie en functionele keuken.

Alles heel goed, je steekt de steenweg over en je bent aan het mooiste strand om te zwemmen. Je hebt een tuin en kan rustig buiten zitten. Alles is hier enorm verzorgd.

A Hidden Gem for a Relaxing Holiday – The White Gate Lodge, Weligama I stayed at The White Gate Lodge in Weligama this September, and I ended up extending my stay because I just didn’t want to leave – that’s how good it was! The location is ideal for anyone looking to relax and unwind. It’s just a quick hop across the road to "Wild Beach", one of the most peaceful and beautiful beaches in the area. Plus, it’s close to Ahangama town, Matara, and not too far from the must-visit city of Galle. Despite being so central, the lodge is tucked away in a quiet spot, perfect for enjoying some true tranquillity. I stayed in Tharu & Dinesh’s stunning family home, and it was a genuinely lovely experience. The house is clean, beautifully maintained, and equipped with everything you’d need for a comfortable stay. My room was spacious, cozy, and had a nice view. What really makes this place special are the hosts and their hospitality. Tharu and Dinesh are warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive – they made sure everything was perfect throughout my stay. I also have to highlight the breakfast – it was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared each morning. The care they put into the food and service really stood out. Whether you're a solo traveller, a couple, or a family, I can’t recommend The White Gate Lodge enough. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, eat well, and be truly looked after. I’m already looking forward to my next stay!
