The Whitegates Lodge

Simple but really nice room, kitchen available for use which is super convenient. Really nice garden as an outdoor area with chairs. Good location as just across a busy road, there is a really nice and quiet beach, suitable for swimming with a very chill little beach restaurant. Ideally, one needs transportation (tuktuks and buses are available) as this location is in between Midigama and Ahangama.

Absolutely loved this place. The beautiful beach was just across the road. We had a very comfortable stay with all the facilities in the house. And the family owners were very nice. It’s the one of the beautiful guesthouses that I will definitely come back !

Very nice stay! So clean and lovely breakfast! You do need a tuktuk to go to town but its not expensive. :)

Room was small but perfect for us. Toilet was clean, owner was nice. He helped for our moped rental for our whole stay and also made sure we were comfortable all the time. It was nice to be checked on. House was also quite literally a <1 minute walk to the beach. It was also a very quiet beach with a restaurant right in front. Would stay here again when I come back.

Just across the road from the Whitegates Lodge is a beautiful quiet bay. Taru and her husband Dinesh were easy going hosts, helpful and insightful about the area. The Sri Lankan breakfast they provides was delicious and filling. What is great about this place is a newly renovated kitchen, so you can keep food in the fridge and cook. The gardens were well kept and on one morning I enjoyed my breakfast outside, surrounded by beautiful plants, Dinesh pointed out a chick in a nest in one of the trees. There is also an outdoor shower in the garden , so you can rinse off from your swim.

Stunning room, such nice owners, the kitchen was fully equipped, even had a blender so we could make our own smoothies everyday. I can’t wait to go back!

Bed was a bit squeaky

This is a gem in the area and the best accommodation we had in all Sri Lanka! Super clean, delicious varying breakfasts, very comfortable and spacious rooms, and extremely friendly and helpful hosts. We wish we could have stayed longer! The wifi was fast enough to work and do videocalls and it was nice to have access to a little kitchen too.
