The Whitegates Lodge

The host family were very sweet, welcoming and helpful. They made us feel like we were at home. The room is on the small side but very comfortable, with air con, a mini fridge, place for luggage, big table etc. They helped us organise a bike rental and gave us recommendations on nice local places to eat. They made us a different breakfast every day which was very nice! The property is also very peaceful and we encountered different animals in their garden.

No hot water in the shower

The Whitegates Lodge became our second home instantly. What beautiful accommodation and even more beautiful owners! Tara and her husband Denish are very warm people. They have two beautiful daughters and take very good care of the house and garden. Breakfast was cooked by Tara and every day was different and very, very tasty. The rooms are clean and there is a fully equipped kitchen with a large fridge and freezer available for guests. There is also a stove with an oven. Sitting in the garden in front of the room is relaxing. The beach is a 3 minutes walk away and is beautiful and quiet, with minimal people. Tara and Danish gave us a lot of interesting information about Sri Lanka. They also arranged a transfer from the airport for a very good price. Whatever we needed, Danish arranged with a smile. The stay was so special that there were even tears when saying goodbye. Tara and Denish, thank you for everything! We are thinking of you and if we ever visit Sri Lanka again, we will 100% come back to you.

Great place near to midigama. Run by a really nice family. Clean and very comfortable room with a kitchen area and beautiful garden split between you and one other room

The room was lovely, a good size and very clean. The bathroom was modern and spotless. There was a shared kitchen which had all the basic cooking utensils. Breakfast was delicious and varied day to day, including a hot breakfast and fruits. The lodge is across the road from a very nice swimming bay and is also a short distance from surf spots and trendy cafes. Excellent hosts. Good value for money.

This hotel was one of the cleanest hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka. The hosts were very friendly and sweet. The hotel was very close to the beach. We highly recommend.

Best place we stayed at. Comfortable bed, fridge in the room and shared kitchen you can use, good airco, quiet, unbelievable breakfast, very sweet host,… everything you need. Thank you so much, deffenitly recommend staying here if you have the chance!

Best place I had in Sri Lanka

Wow just wow if I could give more stars I would a beautiful family run business who are fantastic. Fantastic location 10 seconds from the beach the room is amazing clean, airy and fresh. If you need a step back from the chaos this is it .set in beautiful gardens with a home stay feel I can’t recommend this place enough
