Amazing location right in the jungle, and Howard the host is just the best and takes care so well of his guests! Great real experience, would definitely recommend it! The tip of Borneo in general is truly a secret treasure - almost no tourism and the most beautiful scenery! And definitely have dinner at Ina's Café.

nothing!! // but: Don't expect luxury, it's simple but beautiful & personal/familiar - if that's what you want - go there! (and definitely take mosquito repellent)

Rustic accommodation

We were looking forward to staying in the forest and hearing the wildlife. Unfortunately the neighbours karaoke hindered this experience!

The owner is friendly and offers a drop off/pick up service to and from the beaches each day and explained the area well enough.

Originally we were in the more budget friendly huts though we quickly came to dislike these as, whilst there are mosquito nets - albeit riddled with holes - the floor which is exposed to the outside is built with 1 inch gaps between each slat, allowing all types of critters in. Safe to say we quickly upgraded to the chalets, which also didn’t come without its problems. Firstly, there was no water supply to the private bathroom (another big reason to upgrade) which ordinarily would be fine. However, the owner at the end when it came to pay our bill did not think this was worth taking into consideration and decided to not to offer any form of compensation. Bearing in mind our upgrade was a difference of £8 per night for the sole purpose of more space and a private bathroom. At the very least we expected a few quid to be knocked off for the inconvenience. Lastly, and this is the most important part of it all. When we came to pay, the owner noted a ‘commission’ which also needed to be paid. After some confusion and paying we looked into this and this additional fee he had requested from us is the commission charge he should pay Booking.com from the total price to pay for the service the application provides. After discussing that we shouldn’t have been charged this, and trying to educate him for 30 minutes, we finally got our money back. Though he noted he had been doing this for years!!! So beware not to pay more then the final price Booking.com charges (except tourist tax)!

Proper jungle expirience, unique and unforgettable rainforest home. Owner doing an immense job to make it running. Close to the beach and tip of BORNEO.

Hot in the room, drinking water facilities is limited.

We loved our stay at Tampat Aman! The chalet is surrounded in nature and has a large balcony for chilling. Howard the host is great & knows the area really well. He'll give top advice on beaches to visit & restaurants. Great simple breakfast available to start your day. We had a hired car but Howard does offer a shuttle service to beaches for those without. The property has it's own trail where you can freely walk around & take in the views from the tower.

The mosquito net in our room could do with updating but thats it!

Howard was an exceptional host. From the minute we arrived, he made us feel settled and showed us around the area. He offered to bring us every morning to wherever we wanted to go along the tip of Borneo. The jungle camp itself is so special and there is a great vibe amongst the other travellers. We would have loved to stay longer but we needed to catch the bus to Sandakan (and they don’t go very often!)
