"Amazing place!"

9.0

Very calm and beautiful place with great space and beautiful trees and flowers around every corner. The owners and the staff is just lovely and will help you with everything you might need. Excellent breakfasts and really delicious food! I have stayed on a couple of places in Zanzibar and this place really delivered the best so far. I must also mention that this is my second time here on Afyia on the very same trip as i liked it so much. I warmly recommend this place for anyone seeking a calm, relaxed and beautiful atmosphere and appreciation for good and fresh food.

it's a great place. far from all the worries and peace. you can lie on a deck chair and look at the sea, rent a boat here and paddle to the Mangrove forest. have a great breakfast, either with guacamole or pancake. very attentive and friendly staff. we were really very satisfied and we will definitely come back again. if you are looking for an oasis of peace and don't want to be locked in a resort, this place is for you.

It's a lovely, quiet place with lovely friendly staff. It was basic but that's what they advertise themselves as so we didn't mind that. The accommodation was very comfortable and the breakfast was very tasty. We ate one meal there which was also very good.

The drinks and food were very expensive, 10k for a beer that I would pay 3k for in Dar for example. Its the only hotel I've ever been to that doesn't supply soap.

If you are looking for a 5-star tourist resort with all luxury and comfort equipment, you should skip this kind of accommodation. If you are however looking for a unique spot, with humble bungalows carefully placed in the nature without affecting it, with wonderful views on the sunset directly from your terrace or dinner table, with sounds of animals like bushbaby, for a reasonable price, this place is for you. Talking about the dinner, the meal offer is small, but the food was very good. Despite of being this place far from the crowded most famous beaches, there are also very nice clean beaches with soft sand just by 10-15 minutes walk distance along the shore. Last to mention is the great staff and management/owner of this place. We felt here very well and it fulfilled our expectations.

Wifi was working only at the restaurant, but I believe this was just a temporary thing, maybe this is not an issue anymore, while you're reading this.

Afya is a paradise off the beaten track. The location is hidden away from the touristy areas, located on a quiet stretch of beach ideal for long walks and swimming. The bungalows are private and comfortable and run on solar power - a great example of sustainable tourism. The staff are super helpful and friendly - shout out to Ali, Timoth and Nadra for making our stay so wonderful! We ended up extending our stay as we loved it so much!

Nothing. Everything was amazing.

"Asante Sana to Ali, Timo and all staff !!"

Amazing location, you can feel the peace straight on the ocean. Staff is just awesome, you feel like at home with friends. Here you can really relax after long days of excursions and feeling the real Zanzibar experience. Every night we’ve enjoyed very taste meals on site. Places like that, of course, are difficult to reach: please keep in mind that there is a difficult 20 minutes drive from the main road.

Everything was just above our expectations

"They’re doing their best and we moved the wilderness and the closeness to the sea."

We were experimenting with how a month away from UK would rescue us in terms of being somewhere different. The staff were lovely and helpful. It is a little bit hippy but we didn’t mind.

It has been a trying time for Zanzibar with a severe shortage of tourists no matter what the travel agents may tell you; and how they try and sell you properties. So we liked being here; we recognised the owners struggles. Stay two nights.

"So much potential but very disappointing."

6.0

The location is idyllic on a promontory above a pretty little beach (difficult to walk on the rocky shore without shoes though). And, there are beautiful gardens throughout the property. The owner was very friendly.

The bungalow I stayed in was poorly sealed with gaps where the wood on the door had rotted and so I had ants inside with me. And, during the night the electricity went out and without the fan I had a difficult time sleeping. Also, the owner has decided to turn off the supply of power to the lights during the day even though the bungalows can be a bit dim. So
