AFYA Village at the sea

The location was just what we needed for a much needed tranquility and peace. Ali and Tim were always friendly and helpful, even helping us organize a snorkelling tour. The food was delicious. The breakfast was rich with fruits, egg options, chapati, and home-made guacamole. The grilled sea food was flavourful and generous in portion. They also make the best nutella crepes

These were not an issue for us, but could be an issue for others: Very weak wifi - although who needs wifi here? No hot water - probably because they run on solar, and it was quite cloudy when we stayed.

It can get hot in the night- maybe additional fans ?

The location is perfect & peaceful. The staff, Timo is awesome, friendly & very helpful. The owners Ali & Liza are wonderful people. The food is amazing! I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit Zanzibar & wants chill vibes. Zanzibar in general has become a very busy island & this is the perfect place to escape to. Loved it here.

Location is wonderful, the garden is so beautiful and the bungalows lovely, each and every in their own way. Food and service are great. If you are looking for peace and beauty, this could be your place

I needed a break in a quiet, secluded place, and Afya Village was exactly what I was looking for. It's in the northernmost part of Michamvi, in a cove of its own that almost disappears during high tide, and it is far enough from the noise of the main Michamvi beach or other locations in Zanzibar. The room was well-equipped and spacious enough, and the bed was comfy. The breakfast is superb, and all the food I had was delicious, well prepared. Last but not least, all staff was nice and helpful, easy-going.

Nothing, really :) If I have to write something, even if very minor, I'd say that the towel could be better. I'd also include free coffee and tea for guests, why not.

Afya village by the sea is located down a remote road in Michamwi, we were arriving late at night around 9 pm and neither us not the driver were sure if we were gonna find the property down the road, but we did nonetheless. Very lovely premise with bungalows spread across the territory, ours had sea front view and direct access to the beach right in front. Stunning views, the waves crashed right under the hill we stayed on creating such a lovely vibe. The facilities are pretty basic, the roofing is triangle and the concept of sound separation between rooms and bathrooms are non-existant, as all ceiling is opened and the front door as well has net to protect from the bugs, but that is why we could hear the waves so well :) We only stayed one night, the guys who run the property are few but are very helpful to the accommodate their guests. We really enjoyed our breakfast with various buns, toasts, eggs cooked your preferred way and abundance of fruits. And, of course, amazing views. There are few beautiful doggies at the property, they were very cautious to approach us even though we welcomed it very much, we hope the owners and staff treat these puppies very well with kindness and care :) There is not much around the property, so if you are looking to go about town in the night for a dine out experiences - this might not be it, but for a relaxing quiet time away from the troubles of the world (and work, as wifi is quite weak) is exactly what we were looking for.

I wish there were more signs on the road to guide towards the location as well as at the entrance to the property. It took us a moment to understand if we are at the right place or not in the dark of the night :)
