We loved this homestay! It's about a 10 minute bike or scooter ride from the main part of town (not really walking distance unless you are very motivated) situated in a little neighborhood amongst rice fields. There's plenty of outdoor common areas where you can watch the local farmers work the fields which we found fascinating and made us appreciate the work the goes into the food we take for granted. The room was great, clean, and the bed was soft and comfortable. The homestay is run by local family whose teenage daughter speaks perfect English. Breakfast was great and we still are craving the pancakes with honey! Bikes and scooters are rentable, be sure to check your brakes etc before setting out on your adventure. Our highest recommendation! This type of place is a model for how tourism can be sustainable and mutually benefit locals living the the area as well as visitors.

Secluded location in a peaceful quiet area. Excellent if you want to be alone and experience Vietnamese culture. Everything you need is provided. Host family is very accommodating. Food is excellent. Views are breathtaking.

The family here at Phong Nha Rice Field Homestay couldn’t do more the assist us with anything we needed. They genuinely care that their guests have a positive experience. And the view is amazing. It’s a great breathe of fresh air if you’re grinding through the tourist trail.

The host family made this stay truly special. The setting is also beautiful and it's a better option than staying in the main area of town (the town isn't as pretty).

route to property was beautiful and is our Favorite. the paddy fields are worth viewing when it’s green (season dependent) . we were given a room different to what was booked and we were disappointed. upon asking multiple times, the host agreed to discount one night from our booking.

this is huge list 1) we stayed for 3 nights and we did not get what we ordered for during breakfast. I ordered for banana Nutella pan cake and all I got was pancake with bananas ( no Nutella or chocolate syrup or even honey despite confirming before ordering) I was given sugar instead. there is huge language barrier and believe me it’s difficult to put your point straight 2) we got a different room than we booked. the temporary room did not have ac or we were given comforters as it was cold in December. upon showing disappointment multiple times they agreed to waive off. but we had to have uncomfortable time for 3 hours . we got moved to the original room we booked after 8-9 hours after standard check in time 3) 2 wheeler rent which they gave was not of good quality. we were on our way back from paradise cave and the route is full of mountains with no street lights and ghats on both sides. the bikes battery suddenly turned off and in pitch dark road we had to struggle a lot . the bike started after trying for 15 min but after we reached the town it stopped permanently. the homestay owner came and picked up up. 4) overall the hosts were not bad people but they just do not know the value of customer experience that equates with the money that they are collecting for each room. 5) we had to depend on the hosts daughter to communicate anything in English which was a major pain. she is too young to deal with a customer in a matured way. 6) most of the amenities written in the hotel description are not present. no iron box, no kettle, etc. Room was very basic. with above list of cons I had, I would still say the tone of conversations between me and host were warm and they talked to me nicely throughout. it’s just that you cannot fall for it when they are so many uncomfortable things to deal with. we are tourists after all and have limited time in country. customer experience matters.
