Access to the property on badly-graded gravel road; poor instructions as to how to find property; inadequate lighting in room; surrounding area very badly kept (I.e. cement mixer etc left lying around)....and very few birds!

Isolation. Extensive glass, allowing us to see nature from our bed. Comfort. Basics.

A little difficult to find.

Fantastic building in a gorgeous bush location. It is beautifully designed and blissfully quiet.

We visited during a heatwave in January and, despite air conditioning being built in, we couldn’t turn it on. And we couldn’t find any help from the locals, who seemed to be elsewhere. We went to bed in an oven! No screens, just sliding glass panels, so it was bugs v heat.

It's secluded and has a very nice view of the bird sanctuary and a little shallow creek that flows through. Good kitchen facilities, there was a fridge, a kettle, a microwave and a BBQ that includes a stove though we couldn't figure how to work it.

1. The toilet - NOWHERE in the description or the photos does it mention that it is a dry toilet or a drop toilet (ie a toilet with no water or flush). This would be a deal breaker for many people, us included. We would not have stayed here had we known this, it's not a pleasant experience at all. 2. It's cold on the deck pretty much all the time. We visited in summer and still found it cold at most times of the day except the afternoon. Nothing the property can do about it of course, but you may not get much use out of the deck. 3. Bathroom is separate from bedroom so it means braving the cold every time you need to go. 4. There was scrabble and monopoly, which was fine for us as we only stayed two nights but for a longer stay you might need more. Keep in mind there's no TV and the book collection in the room is nothing to write home about. 5. Two areas next to the house were being used as a dumpyard for bricks and construction equipment for some reason.

The location is absolutely stunning! The birdhide is so secluded and quiet; it was brilliant !
