Manakin Lodge, Monteverde

Our room was very comfortable, big and in a good spot. There is a nice shared area with kitchen (with quite some equipment), dinning area, books and games. The owner is very friendly and helpful (recommended to us a small unpaid hike to St. Luis). Very good value for the price.

Poor quality for price, bathroom door wouldn’t close, sink wobbly, faucet handle broken, sometimes water only a trickle from sink faucet, no sink drain stopper, some lights in the room and tv did not work, mattress sunken, everything in room was very dated, poor quality, not worth the price.

Good location, nice people, I had a room with balcony & forest view + monkey visiting as a bonus. , clean& fresh linen. Coffee ready in the kitchen every morning. I was happy with my choice, but if you are after high standards you will most likely be disappointed.

It could do with renovation & deep cleaning - however for the price I’m not really complaining.

Great room for the kids. Saw a group of coatis that stopped by during breakfast. Right next door to a lovely cafe.

Very helpful staff, host as well as housekeeper. Great location. We traveled without a car and we had everything accessible on foot (although we walked a lot). There is a wonderful viewpoint just 3 min walk. The lodge itself is very charming but obviously its best years have already passed. It's waiting for a major renovation and a deep cleaning once in a while would be great. But overall it's a great value for the money we paid. It was very cheap considering it's located in an otherwise overpriced area. Our family room was large with windows facing the forest. But for some reason it didn't match photos on booking.com. I am not complaining, we liked the room. But it should be fixed A monkey came to visit every day and our kids loved their dog Lucy. We recommend this place if you travel on a budget and don't expect luxury.
