High Leys Lodge

Sarah and John were exceptional hosts who went the extra mile to look after us. The breakfast was amazing and the baked treats on offer were exquisite. The property has great views across the lake which we admired for hours. It’s tucked away from Te Anau which means it’s quieter and a great place to relax and unwind.

• The accommodation had a lovely, quiet and intimate feel - more like a welcoming home than a hotel. • Sarah and John were wonderful hosts. They run the property out of their home, with guest rooms on one side and a shared space in between where you can relax, enjoy breakfast, or take in the view with a hot drink and one of Sarah’s baked treats. • Breakfast each morning was delicious and freshly prepared by Sarah, with a great selection of dishes, plus a croissant, juice, and tea or coffee. • The bedding was very comfortable, and our room had a stunning lake view framed by snow-capped mountains. • It’s only about a 7-minute drive to Te Anau, so it’s convenient while still feeling peaceful and private. • Sarah gave us some excellent advice and recommendations when we arrived, which really added to our stay. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cosy, welcoming stay near Te Anau.

Our stay at High Leys Lodge was absolutely wonderful. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and extremely comfortable — everything felt high-end and thoughtfully put together. The lodge sits in a lovely courtyard, with the hosts and guests staying on different sides of the house, separated by an elegant and cozy shared lounge. The view from our room was simply breathtaking — the balcony looked straight out onto snow-capped mountains and the lake, and in the morning we could even see the golden sunlight shining on the peaks. It was magical! Breakfast was another highlight — beautifully prepared, delicious, and made with great care. We’re truly grateful for the hosts’ hospitality over the past two days. It was a happy and memorable stay — thank you so much! 🌄💛

The view is amazing there. The room was warm and comfy. Sarah's breakfest was amazing. Bonus: the bathroom floor and towel rack was heated. Everything was quite nice there!

Wonderful Breakfast and lived the way all guests sat together to eat in the morning. Was very social especially good for solo travellers and shared travel ideas in the region. Helped with planning rest of trip. Room had amazing views and hosts were very welcoming

This will be the bed and breakfast against which I will rate all other bed and breakfasts. It is, in a word, superb! Everything is so well done and thoughtful. Everything we could have needed was already there. The view is amazing, we never got tired of the ever changing view of the lake. Our room, the Luxemore, was beautifully furnished and decorated, with a comfortable bed and luxurious sheets. The dining area and the lounge felt like home, and in addition to having breakfast there, we also enjoyed curling up there in the evening with a cup of tea, one of Sarah’s baked goodies, and our books. Sarah and John are wonderful hosts, we really enjoyed talking with them. They had great suggestions for things to do and places to eat, it helped to make our stay even more enjoyable. If you are looking for a place to stay in Te Anau, this is the place.
