Choona Lodge 'view of sigiriya & pidurangala with sunrise'

Proximity to sigiriya excellent. We had ascended and decended before 10am on Saturday missing the big crowds improving our experience of the rock. Private rock in the garden to watch sunset and sunrise. Note can't see sunrise or sunset from balcony as expected from profile. Rock is great location but 3 mins walk from your room. Visited the rastarant nearby for cool grooves and cocktails. Pricey but fun. We didn't eat at the lodge which worked well for us as late arrival early departure. Made us tea after sunrise. Big room with large balcony. 11:30 check out allowed us to pack on return from sigiriya. Good for one night.

The wet room stayed wet so when you visit the toilet you get wet feet even the next day. Some kind of broom would rectify this. Lots of dogs in the neighbourhood made for an early start.

i loved the upstairs wooden lodge rooms. the style was great and felt like jungle lodge. the room and bathroom were both a great size. there was a lovely sitting area on the balcony. i had breakfast and dinner- both were amazing (and big!) the family are fantastic and i love their two dogs. Raji the son was very helpful with information and arranged travel for me the the national park to see elephants and the the ancient city of polonnaurua. i really enjoyed my stay- thankyou!

just two small things. one is the need to repair the mosquito screen in the window and the other (not sure how to fix?) is the upstairs rooms whilst beautiful have very thin walls

Most fascinating thing about this property is it’s location and the view. Sunrise and sunset view is just amazing!! Friendly Staff, Quality and reliable service. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Bathrooms are also super clean!! Overall it’s really worth for the money and will definitely visit again!!
