Greenfire Game Lodge

A definite highlight of our trip to South Africa. We stayed at 4 lodges on safari and this was most welcoming with best game sightings. Much easier to access than other lodges too. Thoroughly recommend.

Beutiful setting and lodge. The service: Great. All of them treat us like royalty! Carol always waited for us after the game drives. Given was a great guide, Veronica, and the others treat us great. The bush tv: incomparable.

We had an excellent first South African safari experience at the Greenfire Game Lodge. The atmosphere was genuinely friendly and relaxed, The owners Nigel and Carol and their staff are making sure that you feel very welcomed and comfortable. The rooms are actually nicely decorated and comfortable cabins with a deck that is overlooking the riverbed and the bush on the other side. You can spend hours there just listening to the sound of the bush and watch elephants, giraffes and other animals pass by. The food was very nice and varied, the breakfast was great with fresh fruit, yogurt, scones and an assortment of egg based dishes to choose from. Lunch and dinner and wine assortment very nice as well. And finally the game drives.. such an amazing experience!! Our guide Given is such a wealth of knowledge, he transmitted his passion for his work, and patiently and willingly answered all our questions about the surrounding nature, the animals and about South African culture and politics, it was a pleasure to make his acquaintance (we were the only guests for 2 nights, arriving just after the end of the high season, so we had a lot of opportunity to chat during the drives, although the breathtaking surroundings left us speechless at times). Given is an excellent tracker and we had wonderful wildlife encounters. We appreciated his respect for the animals and the environment, we never had the feeling that we were “chasing” the animals and the Green Fire guides don’t drive off-road due to the risk of killing animals and harming the terrain, which was one of the reason we chose this lodge over others. Our stay at Green Fire lodge definitely made us want to go back and spend more time in the beautiful South African nature.

Carol & her staff were amazing, always attentive, & couldn't have been more helpful. The game drives were so rewarding .... food was great, & the surroundings were so peaceful.

There is one thing that I could mention, WiFi is available only at reception, this is not a problem for me, still 10/10, but this is the only thing that I have

It was a great experience staying at Greenfoire lodge! We had the most amazing time at the safari as well as the stay. Given was an amazing guide and made us have maximum best experience at our safaris! And we did see the BIG 5s through his help :). Caroline and all other staffs very really sweet, helpful and accommodating. A huge shoutout to the chef who put in so much effort into our meals and each one of them was a treat to remember. Being vegans we had the most versatile food everyday! Over all the best 3 days!

Our stay at Greenfire was over all expectations. We loved it!! Carol, Rose and Given, and all other staff were super lovely. Given was our tour guide and driver during the whole stay. He is the best. Very knowledgeable, so kind and guest friendly. Within 24h we had seen the big five - in very close view. We have learned so much about animals, trees/plants, birds and the life of SA. Our daughter said she learned more these days than in school. The whole setup was super nice. Wake up at 5am. First game play begin at 5.30. Back around 9-ish. Breakfast. Cold dishes buffet style, and eggs any style served a la carte. You are free to relax and rest between breakfast and lunch. We hang out by the pool and we also sat on the terrace and watched "bush tv". Lunch is served 2.30pm. Buffet style, delicious and very generous. Second game play is at 4pm. And it finishes at 7-8pm. Then the dinner is served. Every dinner was 3 course meal with an extra sorbet. Really really good! After dinner we went to sleep, and we slept so deep. Bar prices were so affordable, if not even cheap. After the first safari and night, our 12 years old daughter went from reluctant to even travel to SA, to she wanted to come back and stay at Greenfire. We're telling all our friends to go and stay in Greenfiire, it's a fantastic experience. And their location is great too. Just in front of a river bed. You are seeing a lot of elephants and buffaloes, hyenas walking past the room. Our next trip will be to Greenfires other lodge in Namibia desert. And during New Year's eve and day we were served a lot of bubbly. Amazing and big-hearted.

I would love a treadmill, and some free weights. Because jogging on the roads are not recommended.:D
