La Macadamia - Monteverde

What a beautiful location! Wildlife everywhere. The villa's are new and beautiful on the inside. We had some trouble with the AC remotes but got helped quickly.

Guillermo met us at the front as we entered the main gate. The house was clean and comfortable and has a washer and dryer as well. The property is near forest so if you leave the lights on in the house, insects and bugs do come in so be wary of that.

The owner needed cash which we weren't aware of, so it would have been nice to get a heads up about that. The property is near forest so if you leave the lights on, insects and bugs do come in even though the windows and doors were all closed.

Place was a bit dark but the bad weather did not help

One room was totally uninhabitable. The musty smell was overwhelming. Luckily it had another room we could sleep in. We just shut the door on the bad bedroom. Also the rain on the tin roof was deafening and made it hard to sleep.

The Villas were equipped with everything needed for the family with children. They provide ample space between Villas to give privacy.

Would have like to have some type of heat during the chilly evening.

The house was very clean and easy to find with Waze. We loved the separate washer dryer since it’s humid in the cloud forest so clothes take a long time to dry. Check in was great. Guillermo didn’t speak English, and we didn’t speak Spanish, but with Google translate and few words here and there, we understood each other. I did read about this place wanting cash, so we were prepared. Not a big deal. The house is close to many restaurants and supermarkets, so the location could not be beat. It was much better staying here than the Cloud Forest since there was a lot more to do with 5 minutes of driving. We visited the Cloud Reserve a couple of times and did the Ziplining which is not to be missed. Since we are in the cloud forest and in the jungle, you will see alot of bugs, but when we got to the house, it was really clean.

Guillermo was an amazing host. Helpful and friendly.

Way too many bugs: - Bed bugs. - Ants nest in the coffee machine. - Ants nest in the plant pot in the living room. - Tiny ants all over the bathroom. - Spiders all over the house. - 3-inch long millipede caught in one of the rooms. Problem is never ending because the caulking is faulty, making the interior and exterior the same place for bugs.
