Sei Kiyomizu Monzentei

It was a big place with beautiful scenery. I really showed the aesthetic.

Not a huge deal, but the chairs in the main sitting area are stained and look very unclean. There was also a cockroach in the bathroom (I just shooed the little guy away and never saw him again).

The great location.

Excellent layout for a group of up to 10 (we had five), especially with multiple baths. Beautiful place. Excellent location, at the base of the hill up to Kiyomizu.

Would be good to have extra towels / hand towels, as well as a better supply of utensils in the kitchen.

Fantastic location and lovely villa that comfortably accommodated 7 adults . 3 bathrooms a bonus. Check in was easy and the instructions were clear

The kitchen is not really equipped for cooking but ok for basic breakfasts. , there were not enough plates and bowls for 4+ people but it had e good fridge and enough cups and glasses. It would have been helpful to have more than 1 towel per person for a 4 night stay .

The location is superb - very close to all major attractions, so we were able to walk everywhere. The house itself is beautiful and spacious, so our group didn’t feel too crammed in while still experiencing a traditional Kyoto-style machiya. The check-in and check-out procedures were very quick and easy.

It wasn’t super clean. There was quite a bit of dust on the furniture and some leftover beard trimmings in one of the sinks. Seems like a very quick cleaning job since the previous guests. It didn’t bother us too much but if you care about hotel-level cleanliness, it’s something to consider.

I booked this house for me and 4 colleagues and the only good thing about it is the location. Upon entering the house every bathroom was covered in mold. The kitchen table seats were stained. The shower head in the master bath was broken and they did not fix it until 5 days into our stay. There were holes in the wall. The futon also had stains on them. There was dust covering everything and not a single thing in the house looked like it had been cleaned. There was also a broken sink. I contacted the host and they got rid of some of the mold but that was it and there was even still some left over. This is by far the worst house I have ever stayed in with all the places I’ve been to. I had very high expectations with all the good reviews but this home is disgusting and they wouldn’t even compensate me more than 2 days.
