Softades Cottage

The view from the villa is awesome.

Nowhere is mentioned that the owner lives above the rental property which oversees the garden and pool area. While he mentioned that there are no neighbours around and we'd have complete privacy, the second afternoon he showed up unannounced, without even calling or texting to grab something from the shed in the garden. We were completely shocked since we were 3 women on our own chilling half naked in the pool area. Completely unacceptable! The pool is freezing cold all day long even during noon time when the temperature is above 30 degrees Celsius. We barely used it and it's such a disappointment since we booked this property mainly for the privacy and the pool. The pool is located in the East side of the lot so it's completely in the shade after 2pm.

Really... beautiful view, beautiful view..

Where to start I don't know... The building was two floors and the owner of the apartment lives above and this was not clear in the reservation... The pool is very very cold and the pool did not receive sunlight and the pool is cold whenever you want I have seen many pools but like this pool I have not seen many insects and there is no water filter and there is no water if you want to clean it outside because of the lack of water... There is no waste and there is no good lighting... The pool is full of insects if you want to go in the pool you have to clean the pool for an hour every day from insects.

The pool was really refreshing. Sitting on the Patio was awesome with an amazing view. No neighbours so it is very quiet and peaceful.

The bathroom is a little small and dark but overly very clean.

Softades Cottage is beautifully located in the foothills of Troodos Mountains, just above the beautiful village of Omodos. It is quiet, tranquil with stunning views. The cottage itself is well equipped and was spotlessly clean (and cleaned every week). We lived in the outside pool area which was lovely and had a good covered area, essential shade. Filliposs and his team could not have been kinder and more welcoming. Anything we needed was accommodated, and more. He does live above the cottage but nevertheless it is absolutely private. The aircon in the bedrooms was also very good and made a big difference in the incredibly hot days to get a cooler night. IF you are looking for peace and quiet in truly beautiful surroundings this is the place for you.

We would have liked a washing machine do do our own washing. I will stress this was dealt with for us by the host. The second bedroom has no windows, BUT this really did not make any difference as we only slept there. The cottage is about 40 mins from Paphos airport and one and a quarter hours from Larnaca. Being in the mountains it is remote so you do need to have a car, even just for groceries. There are small supermarkets locally and a large alpha Mega within 20 mins or so drive. This was fine for us and to be expected but not suitable for those who do not wish to drive. NB Cyprus has right hand cars and drives on left hand side of the road.

The view of Mount Olympus from the terrace and pool is fantastic. It is absolutely quiet - at night you hear absolutely nothing except the sounds of nature. We didn't have any annoying insects on the terrace - the swallows living close by seem to take care of them. ;o) Philippos is a great host. He spends all day at his taverna, which is a two-minute drive away, but is always available there.
