Softades Cottage

The Owner of the property, Philippos is an amazing gentleman very hospitable and helpful, we met him at his restaurant, Ambelothea outside the village. We had lunch there that was superb, highly recommended to visit. The house was outside the village by it self, very private and peaceful with amazing view. 10 out of 10

Met the really nice owner at his restaurant and was then shown to the villa which is out of the village. Amazing views and so quiet up on the hill. Felt very secure, good locks and electric gates to get into the property. The accommodation is a ground-floor apartment with private use of grounds and pool, owner lives in the top two floors (but is rarely there). Easy access when on site as all on one level but it's a steep hill to get to the place, you will need a car. Omodos is nice, a fairly traditional village with tavernas and shops and bars - out of season it will be quiet. 4g Wi-Fi included. Fridge-freezer is new and efficient. Comfortable lounge area, log burner for the cooler evenings. Nice breeze up on that hill, keeps things cool - no mosquitos whilst I was there! Fruit trees and vines next to the house, the owner kindly said I could have whatever I wanted.

As noted by others, the pool is very cold and is all one depth - it needed a good clean too. The larger bedroom only has a window into the garage area. The bed I used in the smaller double room is very hard which is normal for Cyprus and apparently it's good for your back! Air con unit present but didn't have the remote so I don't know if it works - didn't need it anyway, there was a big fan in the room that was sufficient for late September.

Beautiful location.

The water in the pool was really really cold so we couldn't really use it, which is a huge shame, because the whole point of booking this place over another place was the pool. Also the pool only gets sunshine in the morning, so when we checked-in in the afternoon, it was already in the shade and we were told we had to checkout by 11:30 the next day. The cleanliness wasn't up to scratch either - there were hairs in the cutlery drawer! The host also lives above the property, which is not something we were made aware of originally.

The owner actually came to meet us as we got a little lost. The villa is in a fabulous location, nothing but peace, yet a 5 min drive from a beautiful Cypriot village with tavernas and shops. The house has everything you could possibly need, and if has something missing, the owner is there straight away with a replacement. His main aim is to make everything perfect for you, very friendly, excellent English and a great guy.

Something I did find a little ambiguous was the description on the internet in regards to who actually lived where.🤔 I couldn’t work out whether we were the only ones in the ‘whole villa’ or not? The villa is stunning and has 3 floors, it’s massive! The owner actually lives on the top floor, which is totally separate from the house. The whole of the grounds, pool and bottom floor is yours, you never see him, hear him or anything. He has a completely separate entrance and there are no rules in terms of when to turn the music down etc. I thought this could be a problem when we arrived but it honestly wasn’t. My only gripe was this isn’t explained properly on booking.com, but as I say, it turned out that it wasn’t a problem so don’t let this put you off. And, could you put a little bit of wired fencing under the gates, the house is 100% dog friendly but my little dog could get under the gates 😉
