"Not the cosy retreat we were hoping for - utilitarian"

6.0

Location was central.

The advertising as very confusing - all photos showed various non-specific photos, so difficult to know which cabin you were looking at. We booked the cheaper 2 bed cabin. We arrived at 2pm on a public holiday and the cottage was freezing - there was no heating on and it took us 24 hours of non-stop air-con to warm up - it had obviously been empty for a while. The cottages were described as 'cosy' - ours was far from it - not only was it cold, but it was stark - wooden floors throughout; few soft furnishings; no rugs except in lounge. No other form of heating except air-con (I hope there are fans in summer); no winter blankets ( cotton ones in wardrobes); thin duvets. Thank God for electric blankets. Utilitarian sofa but not conducive to curling up and reading. Both sitting room & front bedroom were very dark as opening blinds meant opening up to footpath & road and compromising privacy. Certainly the cottage is on a suburban road. It did not disturb us much but if you are sensitive to traffic noise, it could be a problem. The cottage can sleep 4 (2 queen beds) but I do think it's mean to only provide 4 of every piece of crockery, china and cutlery. Future patrons beware - there is NOTHING in the kitchen but salt & pepper grinders, so be prepared to fully stock your pantry on arrival. The view to vines is lovely but sitting outside means you are in view of cafe patrons and public walkway. Cafe didn't open until 10 so we never tried coffee or food. We looked at the other 2 restored cottages through windows - they looked lovely and more cosy - beautifully renovated. I can only hope the same is planned for this little wooden cottage.

"Needs more attention"

7.0

Lovely renovated old cottage in a nice winery

Room maintenance needs to be more thorough. Needs more floor coverings in winter with spare blankets and firmer pillows

"Beautifully restored historic cottage"

10.0

Beautiful accommodation, great location and surrounds

It was a shame that the winery wasn't open during our stay. It was closed Monday & Tuesday - I probably could have checked before I booked. Still plenty of great things to do in the area regardless.

"comfortable cottage but noisy location"

4.0

The cottage was spacious and clean and central location with nice outdoor area

Very noisy as the cottage was located right on main road into Mclaren Vale with main bedroom metres from road which the constant stream of traffic kept us awake. I would not have booked it if I knew this. It is not really a farm either.

"Lovely spacious cottage with much character in a great location."

9.0

Spacious, modern historical cottage in a great location - walked to town and vineyards on the Shiraz Trail. Lovely bottle of sparkling wine complimentary.

No breakfast included, so not a true B&B. Would be great if they supplied a couple of bikes to ride up and down the Shiraz Trail.
