Casa da Talhada - Stone House

This house is quirky, charming, and elegant. The uniqueness of its layout, decor and the beauty of its garden seem to be able to cast a spell on whoever walks into the door. It embodies Obidos. Sunrise in the garden and view of the wall tower from the tiny terrace atop the kitchen are not to be missed. There are 2.5 baths in the house; the additional toilet near the kitchen is very handy. Kitchen is well-equipped. Bedding is comfortable. Host is very responsive to all of our inquiries. We are particularly fond of the sketchbook in which guests are invited to draw their impression of their visit.

It is not the easiest house to live in. For people with mobility issues, beware that there are plenty of stairs inside the house. Since there is no parking, we needed to park at the main parking lot outside the main city gate (south) and haul all luggage across the old town. Although there is another gate and a pedestrian opening in the northern city wall closer to the house, unfortunately the gate was closed and the pedestrian opening leads to a unpaved trail in the woods, making transporting luggage not feasible. But we did manage at the end, and the house was absolutely worth the effort. I will definitely make the effort again and stay in this house once more when I return to Obidos next time.

Everything, the house, the art, the history of the place, the tranquility. Amazing view of the village from the garden. I would definitely recommend 👌

The only downside was that the wi-fi wasn't working... I have the same router at home and the red light indicates that it has to be recharged (no funds). I had to use my mobile data in roaming... which was a downer.

Location is great; central and quiet. Both patios are amazing, especially the back one, it has a fantastic view.

Finding the place and picking up keys at a nearby restaurant was a little confusing, but it worked out.

This was a one of a kind stay…right in the walls of the old city…very unique house.

Not a good way to get luggage in to the house. we ended up condensing into bags and leaving luggage in car. which meant if you forgot something it was a long haul. Also house smelled very musty, it’s built right into the stone, but once there we were able to open windows and air it out. It was warm and no A/C so a few fans would have been nice.

the property was lovely but sadly our car got broken in and all our luggage was stolen . Because you had to walk a bit to the house we just took the necessary overnight stuff and left our suitcases in the car. everything got stolen . Apparently that happens a lot in Obedos, really wished someone warned us .

Interesting house...beautiful location!!
