Villa Raquel by Betterplace

The idea of the villa was nice but the structure of the house is not so good. To get upstairs you have to use stairs. The railing is wobbly and you can hear everything when someone is upstairs. We had 2 nice trips with the driver, Nyoman. Definitely a plus during the stay. Also the cleaning ladies were friendly especially Indra. There was a moment where there was a blackout which was apparently on the entire Island. We had no water because it was a electric water dispenser. It was from 3 in the afternoon till midnight. We had at least expected for the house representative Ketut to stop by to check in on us and maybe at least provide us water and maybe light some candles or something. we were basically left to figure it out ourselves. We managed eventually but with 2 small children and 2 elderly people it was not ideal.

- the downstairs bathroom was a disaster. The toilet was elevated on this wooded floor. It didn’t feel secure and quite frankly did not look at all hygienic. The shower was in a bathtub but the bathtub was closed off with again some time of wooded flooring. at some point we saw a millipede type of creature crawling from underneath the flooring of the bathtub that was closed off. So who knows what else was underneath there. - Also the pool has many chipped tiles that can cut your feet. The first step into the pool is quite deep. Not very suitable for people that are not so flexible. - Every morning we had bits of small round and orange/red fruit scattered on the floor and table from bats. You could actually here at midnight the bat dropping the fruit on the glass table so it would crack so the bat could eat it. Also a lot of bat feces and cats roaming around. - it’s nice for the house to be open but it also allows a lot of mosquitoes to enter and get bitten a lot.

Amazing location and the cleaning ladies were so sweet and amazing and were willing to help as much as possible. For our family of 6 it was great location as it was close to seminyak square, eat street and all the amenities we are used too.

The beds definitely need an upgrade as they were too hard and uncomfortable to sleep on, pool too can do with some maintenance as some tiles were broken and my child did cut it foot on it. However, for the money paid and the amount of nights we stayed it was great. Except for these minors simple fixes, the place was amazing ... maybe TV in the lower floor would be beneficial as well.

Great layout and everything provided that you could need. Pool was great, although quite deep! Extra late check-out provided was a life saver with our young son.

Stairs and especially the hand-rail is very questionable if it could support weight if needed. Lack of hot water to wash dishes (needing to boil kettle) and mostly for us were daily mouse feces that we had to clean up each morning. We understand that this is Bali and rodents can be a problem but not very nice to have to clean up each day

Location, friendly and helpful staff

The Villa is in a fantastic location and is a short walk to all of the shops and restaurants and doesn't have much traffic noise at all. The Villa is very spacious and has lovely grounds and my 13 year old and 11 year old loved the big pool (note the pool is very deep and the shallow end is also deep). Fantastic kitchen facilities.

Even the the pool was great it needs some maintenance.. some tiles broken on the bottom and kids cut their feet a few times.

It was comfortable and clean and close to many restaurants etc.

Nothing, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We loved that the cleaners came daily and were very lovely. Villa had everything we needed, and even with a toddler it felt safe enough, just kept an eye on her around pool.

No sound proofing between upstairs bedroom and one below, so you can hear every footstep and muffled talking. Not a big deal when travelling with family though.

We loved the pool!! Great open air living areas. Only 1 minute walk to the main drag. Communication was good. Lovely cleaning ladies.

The stairs are very steep to the top floor. Tread carefully. I wish they had pads for the sunloungers.

Pool - pool is dangerously deep beware if you have kids. I'm 6'4 (194cm) and my whole head was under the water and a third of my hand when I put my hands up while touching the floor of the pool with both feet. This is just a disclaimer, outside of that pool is good Stairs - the stairs are very steep and very slippery which caused me to fall and get injured Manager - The manager sent security to ask us when we are checking out at 11PM the last night and although we said 1PM (which was confirmed to be ok) the next day the manager walks into the villa just before noon and starts going around the rooms without caring for privacy or asking whether he can or cannot. I mentioned I am going for a shower and will be leaving the villa after and manager confirmed ok but 15 mins later while im in the shower his staff rings 5 times on the door and I had to rush out of the shower and due to the slippery stairs I fell down the whole staircase and injured myself. The check out could've been handled much more smoothly without rushing and invading privacy And last - the rooms have 0 isolation so you can hear everyone and anything. We are a group of 4 and could hear each other breathing in the other rooms so you have no privacy

Very nice villa, large garden and pool, typical Balinese setting, let’s of space, good equipment. Its 15 minutes walk to Kudeta and beach there, so in terms of location also very convenient

It’s showing age for sure but price/value ratio is great anyway. Kayu Aya restaurants are close but in 2024 they’re just a shadow of former glory. This has nothing to with the villa itself though
