Volakas Beachfront Suites

Lovely location next to the sea and a good selection of restaurants and shops very close by. An easy walk to Rethymno Town. Well equipped accommodation and comfortable. The host is very friendly and helpful. The beach is uncrowded and the water was nice and clear for swimming.

Maybe add some blackout blinds/curtains for whomever is sleeping in the beachside bedroom as the bathroom light also lights up the bedroom when turned on at night. Maybe add a line on the step outside the bathroom plus a door mat for coming in from outside on the beachside.

Superb location and a very characterful property. Loved hearing the lapping of the waves from the front bedroom

The shower room is in need of an upgrade and the dishwasher wasn’t working.

Being directly on the beach and walking distance from Rethymno and other excellent restaurants.

Perfect location, literally open your door and you’re on the beach. Seaview from the bedroom. Also great having a lovely swimming pool.

The location by the sea, bbq sunsets host Athena was amazing couldn’t ask for a better holiday and nicer host 10/10 we all loved it. I miss the sound of sea 🌊 will definitely be back again

A real gem of a place, full of character, in a great location. Just outside the the entrance door, you have a cool pool. Open the door on the other side of the living room and you are on a terrace with steps down to the sea. A perfect place to relax and unwind, with decent restaurants within a ten minute walk (catering mostly to locals, Galera was our favourite). Athena was a vey helpful and gracious host, we reported a problem with hot water late on the first evening and by the next morning it was fixed. She even brought us a few vegetables from her garden to make up for the inconvenience. Shops are close and convenient (there is a small shop next door, and a bigger market about ten minutes walk away, towards the bus station). The home was well-equipped, it met all of our needs. Overall, of all the lovely spots we have found in Greece over the years, this was our favourite.

It is not (yet) a touristy part of the island, so the immediate surroundings are a little industrial. On the other hand, this also means that the beaches are not too crowded even during high season. We were afraid that the proximity of the main road would bring problems with noise but it wasn't a problem at all - the only thing you can hear from the property is the sound of the sea :)

Whater pressure

Great property right beside the beach, there's a porch area with more than enough loungers that looks over the sea and the city walls. There are also outdoor showers right by the porch area. If the sea isn't your thing, the pool area is great too. A bit more shaded too for children. The rear area by the beach gets sun all day but has umbrellas for shade if needed. The apartment is fully furnished and has quite a lot of kitchen appliances. The location of the apartment is perfect for a sun holiday, maybe a 15/20 minute walk from the old town but outside the hustle and bustle of the town. The restaurants just up the street are all excellent, great views over the sea and the city. There's also a cafe just a few minutes walk fro the property which does good coffee, pastries and sandwiches. Athena was great, really helpful with anything we needed and even organised a taxi for us one day. Two of our guests loved the raki deliveries! There is a shop right next door which sells everything you need.

Although the beds were comfortable, the pillows were very large, became a bit difficult to get comfy in bed. I would say the aircon units probably need an improvement, the rooms were still quite hot despite us keeping the doors and windows closed all day. There were 4 adults in our party which was great however I'm not sure the property could comfortably fit any more.
