Location on the beach was amazing

Abandoned lot next door wasn't great to look at but cause no issues

Our family with 2 teenagers stayed in Volakas Beachfront Suites for one week in beginning of July, 2024. It is a very beautiful property on the beach and at the same time you have access to a very lovely pool. As the property only has 4 apartments it is never crowded and it feels very private and relaxing. The property is literally on the beach so you can hear the waves and relax on your own sunbeds and just enjoy the fantastic scenery of the sea and sunsets on your private terrace. It was incredible to wake up and go to sleep with the sound of the sea. Location of the property is great, only 20min by walk to Rethymno old town and at the same time there are great restaurants within 5min walk and a minimarket next door with good assortment making the vacation very comfortable. Finally the service was extraordinarily! The hostess Athena really exceeded our expectations in hospitality, support and generosity making our vacation truly a fantastic memory. The whole family really enjoyed the stay and we highly recommend this accommodation to others!

We stayed in this apartment with our family of four for 2 weeks. The absolute positive thing of the apartment was the stunning sea view, which opened directly in front of us. The apartment was very peaceful, and it was nice to relax on our private seafront terrace. The location is good, with about a 15-minute walk to the old town. There is a small shop right at the entrance where you can get essential items, and a larger store (Lidl) is less than two kilometers away. Our hostess was friendly and very intrested about her guests' comfort. Cleanliness was well maintained by a cleaner who came a couple of times a week. The swimming pool on the property was clean and the water wonderfully refreshing. Areas we saw need for improvement included the worn-out appliances, and during our stay, the dishwasher broke. Additionally, it took quite a long time to get hot water in the shower, and the bathroom clearly needed new fixtures and a working sink. We had a good time and with a little update, the apartment could be made even more comfortable.

Being right next to the ocean and the helpfulness of the host

Having the beachfront and ocean right at your doorstep, to wake up to and fall asleep to, was absolutely incredible. The villa itself was plenty spacious with more than enough beds, and all the amenities we needed. We took advantage of the full kitchen as well which was a nice break from eating out all the time. Athina was a wonderful host! Our ferry was delayed and we ended up getting in at 10pm, but Athina was there to greet us with fresh baking and breakfast items already stocked in the fridge, amazing!! It is in the opposite direction of the main busy beach strip, but still just a short walk to old Rethymno town and our boys liked going to the nearby gym as well. Overall, we really enjoyed out stay at Volakas Beachfront Suites and would definitely recommend it to others!

No complaints with the villa.

Amazing location, literally right on the beach and a short walk from a lovely coffee shop and restaurants.

Athena was there to meet us on arrival and truly couldn't have been more kind and helpful throughout our whole stay, the villas and pool are really lovely, very clean and comfortable with everything you could need provided. The position right at the edge of the sea and on a quiet and peaceful beach and also to the beautiful Old Town is fabulous. The patio is shared with the other 3 villas but still felt like you had your own private area. What really sets this accommodation apart from any others we have ever stayed in is the care and attention from the owners, Athena and her son Stavros, just couldn't do enough to help us and ensure that we had the perfect stay. I really can't recommend this accommodation highly enough!

We loved being on the seafront. The view was excellent. Dark rooms. We kept our toddler on UK time so we could go out later for dinner and it worked perfectly. The hosts were lovely and kind to us and our daughter. The nearby restaurants and souvlaki place were great. 15/20 min walk to the old town but a bit further to the main beach promenade. No issue for us as the best restaurants are in the old town.

The beds were a bit soft for me. Very comfortable for a few nights but then I felt it in my back It was fantastic. We travelled with our almost two year old. If you're not a relaxed parent then you might find it a bit stressful. While beautiful with glass floors that reveal the old leather works, they can be slippery and there are sharp edges to be aware of. The pool was lovely but there's only one way in via a ladder so again not ideal for little ones.

The most beautiful location right on the ocean with the kindest host. Athena is so lovely and she left us a bottle of wine and homemade treats for when we first arrived. There are wonderful restaurants close by to have dinner at as well as close proximity to town.
