Volakas Beachfront Suites

The Volakas suites are around a 15min walk from Rethymno old town and backed right on to a beach which was perfect for our family of five. There were some lovely restaurants very nearby which suited us after spending the day out. But the walk into town for a bigger selection was fine too. Our host and owner Athena was amazing. We arrived late on our first night and she was there to welcome us and show us around, and she checked in on us each day briefly in case we needed anything as well as bringing little cakes for the kids. She even baked a chocolate cake for us during our stay. So hospitable! We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it for families.

The location is amazing, step out on to the beach. Quiet.

It was a trek into the town, especially in summer heat, would be better out of season.

This is a beautiful property right on the beach. It's a short walk into the town and there are lots of great restaurants beside the property. Also there is a small supermarket just beside the apartment. The hosts were attentive, kind and made sure our stay was very comfortable. I would highly recommend a stay here. Thank you for a great holiday!

The incredibly steep stairs leading up to the lofts weren't featured in the pics at Booking.com, and we had two people in our party with mobility issues, so I think pics of those stairs should be included so people can make a more informed decision.

It was a place beyond our expectations. It was very close to the center, we walked every day. Also, the bus station is close to here to go to surrounding cities. As soon as you open your living room door, the sea view is indescribably delightful. Also, the owner and his wife were wonderful people, they gave us gifts of homemade cookies and ouzo they made themselves, they were wonderfully sweet people. They thought of every detail, everything was extremely clean, I recommend this place to everyone

The property was beautiful and on the beachfront which made it feel like your own private sea view. Location wise it was a short 20-25 minute walk from the old town centre and with all necessary amenities nearby to the villa. The host, Athina, was amazing and tentative with lots of great suggestions, always on hand and very lovely to speak with. I would strongly recommend staying here, we had the most amazing holiday.

The location of this apartment - next to the sea - makes it fabulous! We loved being able to sit out in front of the apartment and it was just a few steps to the sea. While we were there the beach was quiet and the sea beautiful and clear. The apartment has a mini market next door and there are some really great restaurants just up the road. The walk into the old town takes about 15 minutes and it is beautiful. There is space to park a car right next to the villa. Athina is so lovely and really helpful during our stay - wine and essentials such as bread had been left in the fridge. A truly great place to stay in Crete. :)

So close to the sea. When the description says it is on the beach, it really means it. Great location. Close to supermarkets, the beautiful Old Town and some fantastic local restaurants. Our hosts Athina and Stavros couldn’t have been more helpful or charming.
