Matilde's Chalet Etna Nature House

Struttura meravigliosa. Ideale per famiglie o gruppi di amici. I nostri figli hanno apprezzato molto la casa sull'albero. Giovanni gentilissimo e sempre disponibile. Casa dotata.di ogni comfort, anche in cucina. Assolutamente imperdibile il sentiero che conduce ai punti panoramici e all'impressionante colata lavica del 1983. Pace e silenzio. Consigliatissimo.

Ci è piaciuto tutto. Consigliamo, come abbiamo fatto noi, di sfruttare la cucina dotata di ogni necessità per cucinare sul posto in modo da non dover recarsi al paese più vicino (10 km circa).

We loved everything. The road is a bit long and bumpy but definitely worth it for the fantastic experience!

The location is incredibly beautiful. The whole property is nicely hidden in the deep nature. Really quite and rustic. Nice scenery and beautiful lookout around. Cool the idea of creating a three house for the kids to play. The chalet we got was right like the pics. 20mins from the rifugio sapienza for visiting the Etna craters.

Unfortunately the humidity inside the chalet was extremely high that also our bed linen felt wet at night. The amount of insects and food flies inside the chalet was absurd. We could not cut or cook any food without it been covered by insects before reaching the table and they were also covering the mirrors and shower screen in the bathroom. There were public road works on the way which obliged us to leave before 8h30 each morning otherwise we could not leave with our car anymore, even if Giovanni proposed us to leave our car further on The road and he would come to pick us up later in the morning.

The host is very helpful, and the natural environment with a surprise visit by the resident fox was the highlight for the family.

This place is awesome. Full disclosure, you are WAY in there - like, on the hillside. The road getting in is super bumpy and hilly, so not for the faint of heart nor for a SmartCar I wouldn't think. We were in a midsize crossover and it struggled a bit. But once you're in, it's awesome. There are just a couple of buildings, with the amazing treehouse as advertised, and we stayed in the smaller, newer building which is basically on its own private property or section of the larger property. 2 bedrooms, one bath, not much else, really. A small table where you can grab a meal together, couch for 2 where the kids sat and decompressed (after their time in the treehouse) while we made one dinner onsite. Which I recommend if you want a glass of wine, because I was not willing to do the drive in - and all of the gates and locks - after a nice glass of Nero D'Avola. So bring provisions with you! We read, and took note of, that gem of advice from other reviewers and it's critical. But actually the supermarket in Nicolosi is awesome (IMPORTANT NOTE: you want to the Supermercati Deco at Via della Quercia, 24/A, 95030 Nicolosi because the other ones that maps suggest are all closed) and convenient, and so that's a quick and reasonably convenient option. But we hiked, toured the lava flows, kids had a blast in the tree house and on the grounds, and we did Mount Etna one day and Aci Castello (recommend!) another day. Great base camp, nice property and building and just what we wanted to do a couple of days of convening with nature. Fun with kids.

As expected, we were happy.

Well maintained house.the environment is beautiful. The bed is comfortable, the toilet is clean, the kitchen is fully equipped.

it is a bit remote and a bit scary at night.
