Matilde's Chalet Etna Nature House

Nice, quiet place with full comfort. There is a short hiking route (around 1,5km) which is easy to do with children. The nature is beautiful, the view points are amazing. Giovanni was kind, punctual and helpful.

This chalet is in a very special place in a forest copse that survived the 1983 eruption of Etna because of its unique position. It is sandwiched in between two huge lava fields which are gradually being taken over by nature - animals, trees and wild flowers. This is the most fascinating place we have stayed in Sicily and we wish we had been able to stay longer. Our host lives locally and was very helpful. Note that the turn off is on the right just after the 10km distance marker from Nicolosi.

Because of its situation it is necessary to drive some way down a rough track. You need to take this slowly! There are some gates and barriers to open. These were more straightforward on the way out than the way in, once we had got the hang of it.

It was absolutely amazing to stay at the chalet. It was very calm and peaceful environment which was perfect for emotional detox. The host was very nice and helpful. It was truly an amazing stay!

It's a very special place. We heard Etna humming sounds in the night. Everything's perfect. We would like to revisit this place in a few years and see how it grows. For now it's just perfect, like some kind of magical sanctuary in the woods, in the vicinity of volcano.

Fabulous woodland location like something from a fairy tale . Spotlessly clean chalet with a comfy bed , great shower and effective heating . Giovanni is a responsive and kind host who sourced vegan products for our breakfast and immeditaly came to the property late at night to deal with an unexpected loss of power . We felt privileged to see a fox close up .

Loved everything

A very special place on Mount Etna. 10 meter from impressive lava stream in a beautiful forest with oak and chestnut trees. Everything there to cook, including spices. Breakfast is also there. The surounding is very nice, you can grill, there are tables outdoor, nice flowers in front of the house. And the interior is also very chic. Just a very beautiful quiet place.
