Waterside Shepherds Hut

Nice little property, smaller than imagined, but it’s fine

It was lovely, quite small, but no issues

It has a very pretty spot next to a little lake and is reasonably well equipped for a short stay as a couple, with an area set aside to BBQ and a range of kitchen equipment for two, including a good sized fridge. It was clean, with good towels and fresh bedding, and the owner was pleasant when he came to check in on us. The bus service, a short walk away, was fantastic for getting into York or to the coast. The owner even gave some additional sound advice regarding this service which was very helpful.

It wasn't easy to find and it may be worth checking SatNav directions carefully ahead of your stay. The bed is quite raised and the small low step provided didn't particularly help as it isn't nonslip. The steps up to the van itself are not particularly level so be wary after a wine! Finally, there is some road noise as it's close to a busy A-road and train line, although the trains did stop at night.

Absolutely perfect stay. I'd recommend to anyone, the owner was incredibly friendly and extremely helpful, we will be returning.

Beautiful countryside view, fresh air, feels very private and remote. Yet still close to transport links with a bus stop just a 2 minute walk away to get into York City and lots more. Such a comfy and cosy hut with everything you'll need even good wifi! Owners lovely and helpful.

The scenery was lovely there were horses out the back. The owner was very welcoming and helpful.

The hut was next to a main road and a railway line which was quite noisy. The stairs leading up to the hut were a bit unstable and needed repairing.

Very clean! It's perfect and has everything we need. Little portable cooker, microwave, big space underneath the bed to store your bags and the bed is comfortable! Yes there is a slight inclination, but not like others say in the comments. If you are up for adventure, you will love this! You can hear the road slightly, but nothing too dramatic. Very nice owners, very dedicated and friendly. Came twice at night to help us out making the fire in the fire pit and also provided wood, lighter and a barbecue kit. Would recommend and stay again!

Would be nice to be more descriptive in terms of location, perhaps adding some more info. But we got there in the end!

Cute and cosy little hut. Good for short countryside break. Close to York city. We didn't want to stay in the city and found this little place instead. Owners were friendly. We were out for most of the days however the hut seemed to be well equipped.

The hut was quite close to a main road. Inside the hut we didn't hear the traffic/cars however as soon as we step outside we can hear the cars. We had a little difficulty finding the property as there was no clear sign/mark of direction. However it didn't help that we arrived at night so it was dark already. The owner were responsive and made sure we arrived alright.

Perfect quaint place and thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Cabin is slightly unlevel and not as spacious as I thought it would be

The hit is in a slight slant and you feel it especially in bed
