We were in a self-catering unit

Reported a defective door handle onto the patio / pool area on the morning after arrival and nothing was done about it in spite of the maintenance officer inspecting and undertaking to have it attended to. This type of issue presents an unnecessary anxiety in that the premises are not safely secured with a defect of this nature, and in the back of one's mind is whether or not the issue might affect the return of the damages deposit. How would one prove that the damage to the door was not occasioned by us? This type of anxiety (however unfounded) should not be an issue at all when one has come to the lowveld as a getaway to enjoy the tourist opportunities the location has to offer. The issue could have been resolved with a few tightening screws within minutes. So, it's difficult to understand the oversight. The response or (lack thereof) seemed almost dismissive. One gained the impression that once you had our cash, it wasn't necessary to maintain service standards- like a 'if you don't like our non-responsiveness, sue us' type stance.

The property was good, clean and comfortable.

We could not get the wifi. Reception could not arrange it. We are very unhappy about this. We had to use our own data for all the days we were at the place. And upstairs rooms did not have lighting. and also, finding the place was very difficult as the house numbers were not lighted well. We had to face difficulties in all of this.

Fantastic house in a great resort location with lots of facilities to keep the kids happy. We didn’t use the restaurant. The property was comfortable and almost everything worked very well.

Communication from the agent managing the place was very poor (as other reviews have noted). To this day they haven’t replied to my questions on booking.com messaging service. It took 24 hours to get the WiFi password from them! There is no information booklet in the house that could have answered my questions (WiFi password, is the water potable and if so which tap as there were two in the kitchen sink). The agent was available by phone - with poor network - but non locals don’t usually buy an airtime sim (we bought a little for emergencies) so it’s not set up for non South Africa visitors. The agent also took a long time to respond to SMS messages. The agent needs to improve their communication offer and to provide a folder with key information in the house. The dishwasher was mouldy so we just washed by hand.

The setting was beautiful, peaceful, and perfect for relaxing. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home.The rooms were spotless, cozy, and well-designed, with great attention to detail. I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable getaway. I’m already looking forward to my next visit
