The Applewood Lodge

* Two nature loving couples - for 2 nights * Our first impression was how charming and cosy the lodge looked. It’s completed surrounded by trees which in the current season is gorgeous with all the colours and leaves falling. Plus it overlooks beautiful hills lined with trees at the top! The owner, Lindsay, lives in the main house and the lodge is up a woodland track to the rear of their house. Total privacy and seclusion so if you’re looking to be left alone to relax then this is the place! Lindsay is an absolute pleasure who greeted us with a big smile, offered knowledge of the local area and told us to call down if we needed anything at all. She kindly brought us some logs for the wood burner in the evening which made dinner super cosy. We were rather shocked at how well equipped the lodge is! The kitchen really does have everything you need. We were able to cook a fairly elaborate 3 course meal using what was provided! Also the en suites are lovely and have hotel style shower gel, conditioner and hand cream in bottles on the wall. The beds are super comfy with plenty of pillows and extra blankets. I happily watched a pair of squirrels chasing each other up a tree while having morning coffee in bed. The large lounge, kitchen and dinner space is very well turned out and a nice place to vegetate after a long day of exploring. The lodge is very well heated so you certainly won’t get cold in the winter months and you can control the temperature of each room individually! We will definitely stay there again one day! This didn’t bother us in the slightest but just so other travellers are aware, the private woodland is adjacent to an A road. It’s not particularly noisy but just bear in mind that you will hear cars driving by.

The Lodge was situated behind the house of the vendor. It was a lovely quite area situated away from the house. Upon arrival we knocked on the house and Lindsay showed us to our Lodge.

Beautiful surroundings full of attractions. The cottage itself is located in a quiet forest, where the birds sing beautifully and squirrels run around. There is a picnic and barbecue area, and after visiting the surrounding attractions, you can sunbathe if the weather permits. A great place to rest. I heartily recommend.😍😍😍😍👌👌👌👌

During our stay there was unfortunately no barbecue available and we had to stock up on a disposable barbecue ourselves. 😞😞😞😞

A lovely place to stay. The lodge was very comfortable and was decorated to a high standard. It was so peaceful and the location was fantastic for where we wanted to visit. I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend it.
