Ich habe hier eine super schöne Woche in Puerto Viejo verbracht :) Das Hostel ist total familiär und gemütlich! Ein wunderschöner Ausgangspunkt für spontane Ausflüge, neue Bekanntschaften und wenn man will auch dem ein oder anderen Drink in einer der Bars vor Ort :) Die Lage ist super, direkt im Zentrum und sehr nah am Strand :) Perfekt, um ein paar Tage im Paradis auszuspannen und Strand, Karibik und Palmen zu genießen ☺️ Danke auch an die Volunteers vor Ort, vor allem an Bernal und Johann für die wunderschöne Woche! ☺️ Ich würde jederzeit wiederkommen :)

La localización, el buen rollo que se respira y el personal. Te integras muy rápido y se siente como en casa. 😊

Lovely volunteers who can’t do enough to help you. Family vibe, safe community feel with WhatsApp group to notify you of events in the town. Communal areas are nice and kept clean. Kitchen is a plus for saving money for longer stays allowing us to prep cheap breakfasts. We stayed in a private room which was well equipped and comfortable for backpacker style lodgings.

This one is a serious negative (that I’ll try and describe as objectively as possible- 15 years of backpacking under my belt and this will be my first negative review): the private room that we stayed in has a serious sewage problem. During ‘peak’ toilet and shower times, the foul odour of raw sewage consumed the room and we had to leave- it made what was a nice room intolerable to use. We did complain to the staff on duty at the time and they did all they could to help- the sewage tanker also came that day and pumped the drains- staff followed up and since we hadn’t smelt it that day, we said we thought it had gone. Sadly this was not the case and that evening it came back with a vengeance. It made our last night of three a sleepless one and I had to leave my bed in the middle of the night to get some air. For the three days we were there the room wasn’t habitable for 30% of the time because of the smell. I think the raw sewage is leaking under the room and is “refreshed” at high traffic times. I assumed it might be a drainage problem in the area but we haven’t experienced anything else like it in PV. It’s a shame because it’s a lovely hostel, but essentially our lodgings weren’t habitable for a lot of the time so considering this was the second most expensive place we booked (we had a private hotel room in Montezuma for the same price) it felt poor value for money and like a potential health hazard. I hope the owner takes this complaint seriously as I see ours isn’t the first to mention this problem.
