Hostal Chasqui

It's a really nice place , rooftop terrace with a fabulous view , and friendly and welcoming owners.

We loved hostal Chasqui. Don Manuel is the sweetest man and doña Abigail was very helpful. We loved hanging out with other guests in the kitchen area and were lucky to meet some really nice people. The room was exactly what we needed and the location of the hostel was petefect. Very close to the central plaza, but in a very quiet street. We felt very safe there and even stayed longer than initially planned.

The two dogs living in the staff's area weren't very sociable, all though they did warm up to me after some time. The dogs in the neighbourhood can be quite loud at night.

Parking was secure. Location was close enough to walk to the market and far enough to be quiet. We appreciated being able to use the kitchen in the morning to make our own coffee!

As mentioned elsewhere, the staff were really helpful in every way. Parking for our car was excellent, and the hostel has a great location both for the town of Otavalo, and for easy access out to other places. Excellent value for money and I would recommend it highly.

Somewhat primitive shower - quite hard to get the temperature right.

Great hostel. Good location. Has a kitchen and a terrace where you can admire the city. Great staff.

The bed was comfortable, the water was really hot, and the views were beautiful bc you're up on the hill. Manuel was very kind and helped me by sewing a tear in my bag!

The kitchen was not clean at all. The towels to dry the dishes were dirty. The fridge was dirty inside too. I was reluctant to use anything because of this.

A bit far from the market

I rarely give the maximum rating of "10" to the hotels where I live, since everywhere you can find some shortcomings. But we liked this small hotel so much that we stayed for several days instead of one night. Lovely clean rooms, superbly equipped kitchen with all utilities, large veranda with beautiful views of the city and mountains. The location is very convenient, 7 minutes walk to the city center.

Everything was great.
