Fisher-gill Camping Barn

Lovely place to stay and definitely want to return!

Lady who owns the place was truly lovely and made me feel welcome. Came in every morning check on everything was okay and brought some wood for the fireplace.

Location of a barn is very remote, far from town and there is no signal, so if you travel alone and need access to phone that is not ideal place. It was also very old and not upgraded in years, quite dirty, even like for a hostel.

Great location for helvellyn and the lakes, bus stop right outside that can get you to most places if you don’t have a car

Simple online booking process and warm welcome from Jean. Facilities were basic but not surprising for a Barn Hostel. Location was perfect too

There are no power points in the sleeping area so make sure that you take a power bank to charge your phone/smart watch

The location - the property was in a tranquil location ideal for visiting the Lake District

The barn advertised 10 beds but there was a sign stating not to use the top bed - we had to use two!! The shower needed £1 to work and we did not know so we had to £1 for 7 people. The water stayed on for 1 hour. There was rubbish in the wood burner so we could not light it. There was bird poo on some top bunk bedsheets. Moreover most mattresses had springs that would cut into your back during the night. The owners didn’t show up at all during our stay.
