Capsule hostel

The price was right. The capsule bed was great for privacy and felt safe because it is locked automatically with a code. The owner is friendly and was very attentive when I checked in and when I had questions later. The location was fine for walking. I used the bus and Uber. Newark Penn Station is about a mile and there is a nice river walk nearby.

Handwashing: there's no towels for drying hands. Not much soap to wash hands with. Not encouraging to washing hands. The walls are very thin, I wore earplugs so it was fine. The bathrooms need deep cleaning. They are worn out with years of use. There's no exhaust fan or ability to open windows in the bathrooms. The kitchen has nothing for the guests to eat with- no forks, spoons, plates, bowls. Only use of microwave and fridge.

the capsule is enough for me and is comfortable and has privacy. there was a bathroom which is clean and good. the location is close to EWR airport.

‼️⚠️no hair dryer provided, which is a big deal. no tableware provided, only paper plates and plastic knives. the experience doesn’t match the value, which means the price is high.

Probably one of the worst listings I’ve ever booked and I only booked this location because I needed to bridge the gap from a double booking in an Airbnb apartment - never again. First off this is ran by two people husband and wife who have zero hospitality experience. I show up there’s no check-in instructions as the guest. There’s zero indication on how to enter the space and it’s a home. I decide to go on this listings direct website and randomly found their number that I texted only to get a causal (non-professional) response when indicating myself & another guest were at the front door. The other guest had zero check-in instructions. The owner walks us to the area and it’s an absolutely outdated dark spacing at one point he tells us if we thought it was dark that we should turn on the lights ourselves. Then checks us in as if we were checking into summer camp by asking us to provide our information as we stood side by side. The lack of professional setup and hospitality was appalling. We finally got into the pod room in which all three available pods were still dirty from the previous occupants by 430p. He then tells me “just ten minutes I’ll get my wife to clean it”. 10 minutes to properly clean and sanitize a pod? Absolutely gross I was immediately disgusted. He then continues to give me attitude while rushing me and gaslighting me over their disgusting setup. At one point through his own nervousness tells me to close the door in the room where another set of pods were but I hadn’t had the opportunity to move my things into the pod nor did he practice any sense of hospitality by offering to help me carry them. I have no idea how the city is allowing this place to run. You can see in the photos there’s hair throughout the sheets and towels . The bathrooms are ridiculously outdated the trash piled to the brim and is basically reliant on the wife to reset the rooms by herself. It’s set in a rough neighborhood and unpleasant. Proceed with caution or avoid.
