The Outpost Dullstroom

We loved our stay at The Outpost Dullstroom. The calm and peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The hosts accommodated everything we needed and went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay. The beautiful surroundings and well-stocked fishing dam made the experience even more enjoyable.

What is not to like. We return again and again. Alpine is a lovely house for families and a group of friends. Spacious and the layout is ideal for large gatherings. The staff is friendly, attentative and more than willing to accommodate guests. I cannot recommend The Outpost enough. Close enough for an outing to Dullstroom and remote enough if you prefer a quiet country-side weekend.

Tranquil and peaceful setting, beautifully finished rooms

Lots of small maintenance jobs in the unit that made for annoying moments (loose toilet seats, shower heads spraying over the shower, sink/bath pop-ups stuck, water temp extremely difficult to control, leaking sinks/toilets). The venue could have communicated better up front regarding not being able to go on game drives

It was clean and comfortable

Some of the activities mentioned were not really available eg the small boats. Also our room was ‘upgraded’ but we no longer had a view of the dam and we suddenly had neighbours compared to the unit we booked had more privacy and the dam for a view. Also the location did say dullstroom but it was like 15 min away from the town Dullstroom where all the shops were.

Beautiful, serene farm. Stunning accommodation and friendliest and most accommodating staff. Love this place and will keep on returning again and again! We stayed in Alpine house ("Comfort home" on Booking.com). It has 5 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, huge kitchen, living area with fireplace, dining room and lounge area with table tennis and darts. There is an outside braai and gas braai. Rooms are super clean, spacious and neat. And the best part... It's pet friendly!!!

Nothing that I can think of

Our Host was very responsive and the location was great. There is a bit of maintenance needed in the Bathroom. The rustic nature of the fishermans hut was charming but with little investment could be better.

It was the perfect place for our large family getaway. Comfortable and homey with all the facilities you need. We really had a wonderful time and would happily book again.

The only thing I would change is having a mop and bucket available in the house so that you can clean up if need be. Some more cleaning soap would also have helped. We ran out of hot water for showering on our last day, even though we weren’t being wasteful with showers. Two of the small glasses broke - just the tip broke off as we were putting in ice. This happens when glasses are old as there was no excessive force to the glass yet we were charged R 50 per glass, which seemed steep.

The peace and quiet . Fishing was good too.

The stay was pleasant and comfortable.

Just the geysers, gave a little bit of a problem. The staff however, were on it straight away and were so so helpful.
