Porã Chacahua

The staff at Porã were super friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. The facilities were clean and well maintained, especially considering that you are on the beach and sand inevitably gets everywhere. Great place to relax next to the ocean and chill out. Note that the electricity sometimes cuts out on the island (not unique to Porã) but their wifi still works if you need it.

Not Porã's fault, but the hotel next door is building up a new luxury boutique accommodation, and hosted a private party that went on all night.This isn't exactly the vibe we were looking for so just be aware that the hotel next door and their activities is out of Porã's control.

The teepees are really cool, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. Despite being a bit far from town, I enjoyed having the beach to myself and the walks into town. Plus, there's a colectivo passing by every hour. The place was impeccably clean, and the breakfast was delicious. I would absolutely return!

Die Unterkunft ist sehr ruhig und schön. Man sieht, dass hier viel Energie von den Volunteers und dem Manager reingesteckt wird. Ich hatte Sorge, als ich gelesen habe, dass es geteilte Bäder sind. Aber die Sauberkeit ist perfekt. Kein bisschen Ekel oder Unwohlsein. Die Duschen haben nur Salzwasser. Da muss man sich dran gewöhnen, aber unmöglich ist es nicht. Das Frühstück war schön angerichetet. Geschmacklich hier und da ein wenig ausbaufähig. Aber man muss dazu sagen, dass es von den Volunteers und nicht von Köchen angerichetet wird. Das nächste Dorf zum Ausgehen oder Einkaufen ist 40 Minuten zu Fuß weg. Man kann aber auch an der Straße auf ein Taxi warten, das ungefähr im Stundentakt am Hotel vorbei fährt. Dann geht's deutlich schneller. Aber man kommt ja zum Entschleunigen an einen solchen Ort. 40 Minuten am Strand laufen sollte also kein Problem sein.

Wie schon erwähnt, waren die Duschen mit Salzwasser. Das ist ein wenig unangenehm, aber auch kein Weltuntergang. In den Tipis kann es schon am frühen Morgen je nach Wetter ziemlich heiß werden. Wenn man Probleme mit der Hitze hat, kann es unangenehm werden. Aber wenn nicht, macht man den Ventilator an und alles ist gut. Man sollte auch wissen, dass die Pazifikstrände Mexikos im generellen nichts für Schwimmanfänger sind. Die Wellen sind stark, die Strömungen nicht zu unterschätzen. Dazu gibt es hier keine Retter am Strand. Man sollte also auch auf keinen Fall alleine ins Wasser gehen. Zumindest nicht über die Hüfte hinaus.

This island is pure magic. I booked for three nights and stayed 6 weeks. It is the perfect place to learn the art of “doing nothing”.

Breakfast not only looked amazing but was healthy and delicious! Staff and guests were extremely welcoming and friendly throughout our entire stay! The rooms are charming and the facilities are extremely clean and well kept. We’ll definitely be back!!

This is actual paradise. Completely tranquil, very laid back, absolutely nothing to do but lay in a hammock and serve yourself beer all day under their shaded structure on the beach.

Slightly annoying that you can’t use the kitchen at all before the end of the breakfast service at 11:30ish. I will also mention the dogs (one of which I think is owned by the hostel, another just hangs out there) did occasionally get very protective of their land. I was waiting for 10 minutes on the beach trying to return to the property whilst I was barked and snarled at and eventually had to walk away, and come back around the long way. Hostel were very apologetic when I told them, and I think the dog is usually on a lead, but was just a scary moment in an otherwise perfect few days.

Styling of the location is done well, which makes the look and feel of the common areas good.

I would not stay here again. The location is just very inconvenient (40 min walk to the nearest shop, restaurant, surfspot or tourguide), while at the same time the accommodation is far from attractive enough to hang around. Also my bedsheets were ripped, the tents are not bug proof and even a cup of coffee is at a charge. Finally, the kitchen is closed until noon and for some reason there is not really a community. I expected more given the price paid.

Such a great place with the best hosts ever. Everything works, the staff are super nice, it's clean, breakfast is great and the whole place is well taken care of. It's an incredible place to just be. I booked for a few days but ended up staying for 3 weeks.

Sehr freundliches Personal aber die Hälfte der volontiers absolut arrogant ignorant unfreundlich habe versucht Gespräche zu versuchen aber wurde total ignoriert vom Spanier und von der Amerikanerin hatte ich noch nie in meinem Leben so was aber die andern Volontiers sehr freundlich aber sonst war es top .
