Itzé Hostel

This was a nice quiet no frills hostel in the center of the city. The check in lady was exceptionally friendly and polite.

The bathroom stalls were a bit on the smaller size.

Doors in shared men's bathroom need attention as do curtains around beds.

I stayed in a very small, 4-bed female dorm, which had air conditioning and ceiling fan. A shelf is available for your luggage storage. A separate, much smaller locker is also available for documents and valuables, which is located in the corridor. The bed was very comfortable. Lower beds lacked a privacy curtain. Female bathroom had 2 toilets, 2 showers, 2 sinks and wall mounted hairdryer. Towels are available and are free. There is a large kitchen / dining area, with 1 table and chairs outside. There is also a roof terrace where you can dry clothes. Breakfast is superb and very generous: 2 x toast, cream cheese, avocado, fresh fruit and hot drinks. Overall, the hostel is very clean and well run. Wendi is an excellent host and made me feel extremely welcome. She is very professional, down-to-earth, hard working and very engaging (we had lovely conversations). Jenni is also a hardworking individual and very friendly. The hostel is located on a quiet road and is a short walk to the ferry terminal, beach, market, supermarket and main drag for restaurants, bars and shops. This is not a party hostel and all guests were very respectful.

All dorm beds should have a little shelf and ideally a light. I feel they should make better use of the roof terrace, if permitted, as space is a premium in this little hostel.

This was a great stay for the price! The staff was so kind and accommodating, they made us feel like we had been roommates for years and just welcome immediately. Everything was very clean, well put together and safe. It was a very private stay for a hostel with only having to share the bathroom, but everything was sectioned off so even that is private. After having gone to the island multiple times in very familiar with navigation there and this location is located perfectly! Obviously not beach front, but it is about 20 meters away from the busiest street on the island with anything you could imagine needing from cuisine to shopping/groceries. With that said though it is dead quiet in the evenings. Additionally, the most beautiful beach in all of Mexico (I may be bias) is Playa Norte and is just a 2 minute walk away, if that. All in all, Itzé is a great place to stay!
