This is *the* only social hostel in Almaty. If you're a solo backpacker this is without a doubt the best place to stay to meet other people - felt like SEA. No other hostel is filled with this many backpackers. This comes at the expense of decent facilities but I still recommend this place

The facilities are bad. There's only 2 bathrooms and the showers are combined with the toilets so there's lots of waiting around. Beds creak all the time and there is no privacy. There are no provided lockers (maybe there were but the staff just told everyone to put their bags on the floor). It can get super loud at night since everyone is out so you physically cannot sleep unless you bring earplugs.

Great location, very social. Met lovely people. The two lads on reception really made the stay that extra bit special — helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend

The vibe of the hostel, the attentiveness of the cleaners, and the helpfulness of the staff. It's very easy to meet people to hangout and travel with.

The bathroom situation is terrible. There are only 3 toilets for 40 to 50 people. The mattresses in the beds provide no cushion and are only 3 inches/~7cm thick. Your back will hurt. Come on Almaty Backpackers, you guys could be a great hostel, but please fix these issues.

Great hostel with immaculate vibes! Clean rooms, good common area and amazing staff. Aisultan in reception was so nice & came with great tips! Would definitely stay here again.

Very social hostel, probably the best place to stay in Almaty if you want to meet other travellers. Good location. Very clean hostel, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Good kitchen if you want to cook, but there’s also plenty of food available near the hostel.

There’s not enough showers or toilets for the amount of guests (but thankfully it didn’t impact me too much), and the beds are not the most comfortable. More toilets and showers, or even separate sinks for people brushing teeth would help. The dorms can also get really hot at night after warm days.
