Almaty Backpackers

I stayed at this hostel for just one night - I was there for a Almaty Marathon. I chose this place because of its convenient location, and I didn't regret it for a second! I unexpectedly met other race participants here, and in the morning we went to the start together - it was very inspiring. I would especially like to mention the work of the receptionist Aisultan: all issues are resolved instantly, the staff is polite, responsive, and really cares about the guests. The women' room is clean, cozy, and has a pleasant atmosphere. The location is excellent - everything you need is nearby. And there is a truly international atmosphere here: it was nice to chat with guests from different parts of the world. Thank you for your hospitality! If I'm in town again, I'll definitely be back!

Overall, my impression of the hostel is positive: excellent location, friendly staff, and a pleasant atmosphere. However, I would like to note that the bathroom and shower room are in need of minor repairs—it is evident that they are not new. It would also be great to improve the ventilation, especially in the shower, and pay a little more attention to the frequency of cleaning in these areas. I am sure that with such improvements, guest comfort will be even higher. Thank you for your hospitality!

Loved this place. Incredibly social and the dorms were clean and fine. Close to lots of bars and restaurants.

If you are looking for a hostel to socialize and meet other travellers, this could be a right fit for you.

The hostel felt chaotic. The staff were only available at certtain hours (11am to 11.30pm I think) but were sometimes not around at these times. A lot of the common facilities were old and worn out e.g. sofas and kitchen utensils. I would not stay here again

Not too many showers and toilets for the number of guests, but I personally never had to wait more than a few mins!

amazing hostel which started to feel like home for me, everything is super clean and especially the staff were absolutely amazing!! Cute common area to chill and always full with people you can connect with

there are tiny things which could be changed to make the whole stay even better, this hostel definitely needs some better kitchen equipment (some non stick pans pleaseee) and the beds are really squeaky and not too comfortable

The hostel staff and the social atmosphere is amazing. Staff, especially Aisultan, were always helpful and super nice to talk to, and even hosted a barbecue one day. I also found this place to be non-discriminatory and a safe space for LGBT+. The social atmosphere is also great here, and really what makes this hostel the nr 1 choice in Almaty. Super relaxed vibe, yet everyone is respectful.

The bathrooms need to be improved as they have a huge mold problem. Also, chairs and tables were broken outside, and the owners have yet to have them fixed or buy new ones. Because this hostel's selling point is that it is social, they should really take these matters seriously, as fewer chairs and tables also mean less space for socializing.
