Barn Laos Hostel

Nice hostel with good facilities.

1. DO NOT BOOK A BUS WITH THEM. I and another girl from this hostel were put on a cheap, horrible bus which was extremely uncomfortable and broke down on the voyage, while all of the other tourists who booked the bus at different hostels (for the same price, 430 000 kip) were put on nicer buses. The nicer bus was 300 of you buy at the station, while our bus was 150. Paying 430 for a bus that's 300 is fine since it saves you the trouble and expense of going to the bus station on your own. When we called them, they told us it was because we booked late. But we both booked 2 days before and they could have informed us that the VIP bus was full??? It was just a lie. They just wanted to pocket the extra money and screw us over. But 430 for one that is 150 is actually a scam. It's a shame because otherwise it was a nice place, but I find this to be totally unforgivable. They do not have the best interests of their guests at heart and are not trustworthy. Slight overcharge is one thing, this is something else. 2. Breakfast is 2 eggs you cook yourself. Fine but if you can get a cheaper place with no breakfast... go for it.

Its location is good, nearby food market and amenities The common lounge and balcony is cool to relax Wifi worked well

Bathroom and toilets are downstairs (think about wee in the middle of night). Hot shower is only hot when the water pressure is low. The “continental” breakfast includes egg (you have to make it the way you like), margarine and something like jam (didn’t taste good) and instant coffee. It is self-service and you have to wash up your stuff. These all would have been fine if informed properly. This is not what you told at the time of booking.

Nice building, friendly and helpful staff and comedy and spacey beds in the dorms.

From the design of this hostel to the cleanliness and comfort it was fantastic! Great location and super quiet.

I really didn't love the fact that we were expected to make our own breakfast. It's nice that it was offered within the cost of the booking but to make my own breakfast in a small kitchen, to do the dishes before getting to eat my eggs - leaving them cold - was lame. Aside from this, everything else was truly exceptional.
