Waitomo Homestead Cabins

Great location just a short drive from the caves Nice views from some cabins

Beautiful setting however disappointing accommodations. Although advertises as having WIFI, only one of the 2 cabins we rented actually had WIFI. The cabins were sparse but functional with nice porches but they did not seem very clean. Floors hadn’t been mopped in some time. The beds were not very firm and there were dead bugs on the floor. That being said, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset from our porch. There is also a very nice restaurant but it closes at 4 pm. Another thing to note, that we didn’t realize until we got there is that there is NO ALCOHOL allowed in the cabins or common areas (there is a very nice communal kitchen) and the notice refers to the nice bar that they have in the restaurant (but, again, it closes at 4 pm). There is also a fruit and vegetable store right next store. All in all it was a good value but could have been better with more attention to cleanliness and functional wifi.

It’s really close to waitomo cave, cabins is clean and perfect for a couple. Toilet and showers are clean.

A fan is not enough, miss air conditioning

Dusty, beds weren't even made and were uncomfortable (could feel the springs and the pillow was as thin as a sheet). One of the showers had gross hair coming out of the drain and another had huge spiders hanging out by the door. The kitchen was dirty. The reception treated us as if they were doing us a favour by letting us stay there, with serious looks and warnings about "strict 10am check out" and being mindful because "we have other guests", as if we were children or thugs who do not know how to live in society. However, I don't think that's an issue with the person working there, but rather company policy, as the poster on our room had similar condescending and insulting warnings. After experiencing kiwi hospitality and excellence in the many other places we've stayed in NZ so far, this place was, by far and wide, the worst.

Staff were lovely. Pretty views over the fields. Good value for money for a quick stop over on the way to our next location. Lovely farm shop near by. Was very clean. Restaurant/bar area is great.

Room is super basic so no bedside table or side table or anything to place anything on. Restaurant and bar area is lovely but such a shame it closes at 3:30. Was fine for one night.

The cabins have a nice view and it's very compact, it's a great place for short stay. The shared kitchen were very good, clean and with good equipments. The showers were very good as well. I liked they got free parking with plenty of space and the proximity to a local shop with fresh fruits and veggies in such a good price.

Some plants on the path from our cabin to the common areas need to be trimmed, it was hitting us in the face every time we passed by.
