Fantastic venue with beautiful trees. Staff were wonderful. Stunning views over the vlei with incredible sunsets. Food was excellent. We enjoyed listening to the video clips of the finding from the Blombos caves of our prehistoric ancestors. I really recommend this.

The fireplace in our room was not drawing well with the previous people, that stayed there, so the room was filled with smoke. But other than this, the room was spacious, comfortable with a large on suite bathroom. We slept well and were nice and warm. We will definitely return.

Before arriving - when we booked several weeks ago we received an email requesting information. One question was about food - because we booked dinner and breakfast. I replied and said that my husband is gluten intolerant so needs gluten free. Sadly the chef was not notified - only once we were there and discussed it with the manager did he tell the chef. Fortunately the chef is brilliant and whipped up a quick alternative for my husband but rather unfortunate that he was not notified beforehand.

I admit that I hesitated to hire because of the bad opinions I read in this forum. I was in the Opstal Dassier room and I highly recommend it because it has an incredible view of the river where you can see the sunset. When you have to go to dinner you have a back door that leaves you practically at the door of the restaurant. Cleanliness is excellent despite its location in the middle of nature. The food (lunch and dinner) is tasty and they have a good wine cellar. Bring a quality flashlight to light the way to the room because the one they give you does not provide much light.Be sure to go to Kopie Allen beach, it is beautiful and starting in June you will see whales on its coast.

The breakfast included is very brief but they offer you something more varied for payment, it didn't seem right to me. Keep the door closed all the time because animals will enter at least a toad like us hahaha. The road to get there from Cape Town or from the garden route is a total disaster but the place is worth it for the landscapes and animals that you will see there such as ostriches, pudus, monkeys, zebras, etc. Then rent a 4x4 for greater peace of mind. I don't want to imagine a rainy day on those roads.

Lovely hotel in the middle of a wildlife refuge. The rooms are very comfortable, the food is great and the staff was so helpful and friendly!

The place is amazing, very nice cottage, animals surrounding the hotel.

Beautifully situated in the middle of the reserve - animals are coming in principle to your door. The room was well setup, including an open fireplace (that we did not use). Wonderful surrounding and efficienct restaurant service.
