Pidurangala Hostel

The hostel is run by a lovely family—husband, wife, and their two kids—who live on the property, making the stay feel warm and welcoming. They were super helpful in arranging a tuk-tuk at a fair price, which saved us time and hassle. The location is ideal, just 1 km from Pidurangala and within walking distance to Sigiriya Lion Rock via a scenic jungle path, avoiding the main road. Having a small restaurant on-site is a big plus, especially since there are no eateries nearby in the evening. The community is friendly and looks out for visitors, adding to the experience. Plus, the bus stops right in front of the hostel—super convenient!

A few areas for improvement: The hostel is close to the main road, which can be a bit noisy, and mobile signal (especially Dialog) is weak. Housekeeping could be better, but it’s nothing that can’t be improved with a little effort. We had some rain during the night, and there was a small leak near the bed. Also, the rooms only have square-pin sockets, so a few multi-plug adapters would be a great addition. That said, the place has so much potential, and I’d love to stay here again!

A nice accommodation next to Pidurangala Rock, surrounded by nature, with a restaurant, Wi-Fi, and lovely hosts. There are private huts for couples or families, as well as a shared dormitory. While I did miss having a mosquito net or fan in the rooms, everything else was great. The owners are a friendly, helpful, and easygoing family who make you feel welcome. Although the breakfast wasn’t huge, it was included in the price, so no complaints. I’d recommend this hostel if you’re looking for a peaceful stay near Sigiriya.

Ideal location close to Pidurangala rock, accessible on foot. Helpful staff.

No internet network and poor WiFi only accessible from a certain part of the hostel. Making it difficult to organise trip. Little English spoken, hard to translate without internet. Better bring earplugs because of road, dogs barking or late works.

The pidurangala rock is just about 1 km away from the hostel. The owners were very kind and guided well with the details about the area. A welcome Drink served after arrival. The breakfast served was amazing. There are bicycles available for rent aswell. A shop across to purchase essentials...

The size of the property allowed it to feel private and relaxed, while at the same time location was perfect as it was quite central. Rooms were clean, simple and well maintained.

Shower pressure could be stronger.

Staff are so good to you, great breakfast each morning and provide plenty of suggestions on what to do whilst you are there!!

Location is a little far if you don’t have a vehicle of some sort to walk into town etc

Very good hostel

Loved the location, during the day it was a nice walk into town. Host organise tuktuk for me twice as I learnt it is unsafe to walk at night here due to wild elephants. Location was close to all my day activities, there is a little shop across the road with essentials. I would stay again. Room was spacious and had a section where I could lock my personals with my own lock. As a solo female traveller I felt safe here. I was the only person in the dorm share so I was a bit confused as to the dead cockroach in the middle of the room and the poop in the toilet bowl. However the room was clean and I made good friends with the frog were in the jungle enjoy it!

The room was clean maybe just do quick check next time before letting guest in!

Everything was just perfect and mostly owners were the kindest people in the world and so soo helpful.. and they are preparing the best breakfast even some trips around and u can also rent a bike to go around
