Hostal La Isla

Very friendly staff, central location and cozy interior. A lot of small nooks to relax and hang out. The included breakfast was good and a nice meeting point with the rest.

The hostel has a bohemian decor and vibe, which therefore attracts a certain kind of clientele. Its not a bad thing per se, but not something for me. The dorm was cramped with little space.

The energy of this place is absolutely amazing—it’s warm, vibrant, and instantly makes you feel at home. The staff is exceptionally friendly, always going out of their way to help with a smile. You can tell they genuinely care about creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere for everyone. The communal areas are great for meeting other travelers, and there’s always a great vibe here. Whether you’re looking for a cozy spot to relax or an energetic base to explore the area, Hostel La Isla is perfect. A really great place to relax in San Cristóbal away from the party vibes of Puerta Vieja. Immediately on arrival, I was offered the chance to take part in that evening's family meal, which was a great way to get to know my fellow travellers and enjoy some home comfort food. The volunteers were all incredibly welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was basic but tasty and the yoga classes were fun although challenging. Bathrooms were clean and had hot water!

Lovely hostel with great staff and vibes. The manager is running a great show there. The yoga was lovely. I slept amazingly each night.

Staff were so lovely/attentive, they made it so pleasant! Great location just uphill from center. Common spaces for sitting, a nice courtyard, and breakfast in a small kitchen with natural light. My room upstairs had a lovely little view over the city rooftops.

The room walls are a quite thin. But there's a rule about late-night noise, and everyone was quiet while I was there.

I love it. Nice people, nice vipe & close to the center. I have stayed in La isla last year for 4 weeks and this year for 5 weeks. This year I also volunteered there. You get free accommodation (very comfortable since there are new beds) and breakfast every day. There are 6 volunteers in total, this is also a reason, why you get a “feel home” atmosphere there.

It’s not so much breakfast, but the chia pudding is super delicious ☺️

Amazing hostel with a very nice and relaxed vibe. Everyone is very friendly and the owners and volenteers make it feel like a second home. Lovely community. There's yoga 3x a week. Breakfast is between 8.30 and 10, yoga is at 11, so the vibe and schedule in the hostel are very laidback.
