Hostal La Isla

La isla is a little cute hostel with many things that make it special. The volunteers are really nice, there’s free yoga few times a week with a really knowledgeable teacher, breakfast is very good as well. The location is great, in the middle of Zocalo.

Great location for exploring San Cristobal. Nice outside area on the second floor that gets lots of sun.

This is a hostel run by volunteers, travellers living in San Cristobal medium/long term. For that reason you don’t get the same vibe as hostels where people are coming and going for short periods which I prefer. The private room had a nice view but needs a bit of care. The breakfast isn’t great and didn’t fill me up.

The volunteers were great, the vibes were good, location is perfect and the beds were great.

I never leave reviews or comments but I just had to say how much I loved this hostel. Probably one of my fave hostels out of the hundreds I’ve stayed in. Facilities were great, super cosy homey vibes, all the guests were super welcoming and great company. Volunteers were great, free yoga in the mornings! I wish I could have stayed longer! Great value for money

Great location, exceptionally clean. The staff is very friendly, they will help you with anything you need. The hostel organizes fun activities. We stayed at one of the private rooms on the top floor. The view is simply spectacular!

Lovely hostel. The staff were so great, the sleeping pod I had was super comfortable. Hooks, plugs, curtains and even a couple of shelves. This allowed you to have your own space whilst having the community of being in a dorm. Big lockers you use your own padlock for too. The kitchen was great, well equipped. Free drinking water too which was fantastic as San cristobal water is not meant to be great. I kept extending my stay here. Definitely recommend this as a social but quiet, non-party hostel.

The only thing I'd say was the breakfast wasn't really to my liking. Chia seeds or something... Personally I'm more a toast or pancakes kind of guy but others might like it. Very very minor thing though. Overall great hostel.

The staff were super friendly. The breakfast was really nice. They also have yoga classes. It's a place to chill and relax and also enjoy the town.

My stay at La isla was a very special one. I felt very comfortable in this place with great people and a very special vibe. Very familiar, clean and cozy. Best hostel of my trip. I will definetely come back:)

Everything!! This was truly home. I was meant to stay for 3 nights & ended up doing 8 (as per everyone & I truly only left by force of myself and not by will). The staff are all amazing- extremely helpful and kind and part of the crew. The yoga is a great offering also but would be good if done earlier in the morning. Breakfasts every morning were spent chatting around the table & honestly, some of my favourite moments of my time in San Cris. Although the hostel can accommodate so many people, it never feels busy/overcrowded. It is super clean and there was never a moment that the bathroom didn't have toilet paper, etc. The lockers are huge and so are the beds tbh. There are plug sockets & rails for most bedspaces. Also the decor is lovely and it's just such a homey space! All in all, I absolutely loved my stay at La Isla & have nothing bad to say about the place! Thank you AK, Marie and everyone - I wish I could have stayed longer but I certainly know where to come if I return to Chiapas (& send everyone in the meantime!) 💚
