Red Panda Hostal

Easy walk to the bus station and beach. I was staying for just one night waiting for my flight so didn't experience much of the hostel. They let me leave my suitcase in the room for a few hours after check out which I appreciated so much

The toilet doors are too close to the toilets. Quite hard to describe but it's pretty odd. Like, there's not really space to sit down and close the door properly. I am not tall.

Because I asked the AC to be on during the day (as my booking was saying) I got kicked out the next day. They "nicely" asked me to leave and then threatened to not give me my money back if I didn't leave by a certain time. The guy switched from welcoming to mean as soon as you say something... Do not go there!

AC only open starting at 9pm which is very late! Super hot in the room even with the AC on at night. The bathroom smells so bad and is disgusting The bathroom and toilet in girls dorm have no lock. Toilet are so small, knees touch the dorm when you sit. All is gross

Location and ease of friendly remote check in, nice artwork and branding.

Very dated, sheets and towels discoloured with old stains. Beds too close together and not comfortable, no privacy curtains, very noise at night with loud music, showers were dirty, both water dispensers were empty and staff member onsite seemed unconcerned by this. Given the price there are many better options in Playa.

Very helpful virtual host, clean and quiet dorms, not a “party” Hostal. The location close to Centro but a little off the main drag and very walkable for a solo traveler. Shares the building with a dive business so would be amazing for divers.

Sadly bikes had been stolen so no bikes for rent anymore, though it is very walkable. I was not able to leave my luggage at the Hostal after checkout (11am) because they don’t have a front desk, so I purchased an extra night in the shared dorm to use the locker for the day.

The staff was very kind and attentive. They always responded quickly to all inquiries.

The place just felt really, really dirty. I saw many cockroaches running around, in the dorm as well as in the bathroom. The air circulation was terrible. None of the windows were open in the bedroom, which made the room very musty. What was worse, though, was the lack of open windows in the girls bathroom. It made the place feel even dirtier. The sheets also had stains on them.

Great hostel, very cute - has a nice pool for the hot days! Location is also nice since it's away from the city center and you get to venture into the "real" Playa Del Carmen.
