Te Anau Lakefront Backpackers

Room comfortable and clean, perfect for a couple of nights. Bedding was really nice, with good amenities. Parking very easy, and a wonderful location on the lakefront.

The lovely wall to ceiling glass doors of the room opened right onto the carpark/communal stairway, so had to balance the desribe for natural light with privacy (it was a bit like being in a fishbowl), however I spent most of the time out, so didn't really matter

Everything is fine. The shared kitchen is large allowing 3+ groups of people to cook simultaneously. Good heater.

1. Wifi is ridiculously bad. It takes me an hour to watch a 20-minute episode. 2026… bro should invest to upgrade your wifi lol 2. No body wash, only shampoo provided 3. Our room was on the second floor and there is no lift, so be prepared to do some lifting 4. Balcony outside our room are connected to balconies of adjacent rooms, so actually if you want to, you can peek into others rooms. Privacy issues, I’d say. Additionally, cigarette smoke from next door drifted over and lingered on the clothes I hung outside to dry.

We were in the en suite bedroom, nice atmosphere and decoration, good size and comfy bed. It’s a backpackers hostel so we heard lots of coming and going but that’s expected. Location is great, short walk by the lake to get to the town center

Hot water seemed to run out in the evening.

Excellent location on the lakefront in Te Anau, great value for money. Room was spotless and warm, shower had fantastic water pressure. Easy check-in, great parking around and walkable to restaurants/shops in town centre. Highly recommend.

Touch on the small side, so if travelling with big/lots of luggage it might be good to pack a smaller bag for the room! Somewhat thin walls but not a problem for our stay -- earplugs should do the trick if you're a light sleeper.

Loved the tipi, nice and cosy, plenty of warm blankets and one heater.
