Love Shack Hostel & Cafe

Rita (the owner) is such a wonderful host and went above and beyond to help us and recommend places to go, even teaching us to ride mopeds. Sassa (unsure on spelling) was also so lovely at reception. It’s a small hostel so it feels like a little family - it’s super easy to make friends. It’s very clean, the bedrooms are a good size and the free breakfast is an added perk. It is also walking distance to Paliton Beach and a couple of good restaurants/bars. Love Shack was the best hospitality we have received in the Philippines so far :)

This place is good to discover that it's all about atmosphere and people. Yes, there weren't curtains and best wifi was in the lounge area, but then there was free breakfast ( toasts with delicious jams), Rita and other local staff to ask about anything you wanted or share a laugh, and some common activities making it easy to do something together with other travellers ( going out together on Valentine's day, pasta evening). What's more, the rental of the scooter was really convenient and Rita was always there on Whatsapp to book a needed ride on a tricycle if asked. So if you are looking for a place to talk with others and feel safe and at home, that's the place. A lot of guests, me included, kept prolonging the stay.

I booked for 2 night and ended up staying 8! Rita, PJ and all the staff are lovely and the vibe at the hostel is super nice. I’m travelling solo but in Love Shack I found a little family which I will always remember. The hostel is super close to Paliton Beach where you have the best sunsets on the island. I can only recommend it!🙏🏼✨

Everything was just amazing. We got recommended this place from our lovely hostel lady back in Bohol, and it turns out even better than we expected. Located next to Paliton Beach which is just a 5min walk, which is super convenient, and like a 5-10min drive to central San Juan. Mama Rita, and her staff, especially the guy whose name i never got, made the place super homey and warm. They took such good care of us during our stay and truly went the extra mile to get to know us. Breakfast was banging, I have a thing for guava jam now, and every two three days, they set-up a movie night which is super cute and lovely.

Only downside is the AC, can get super chilly being on the bottom bunk and super hot on the top bunk. Not quite sure why.
